Visitor visa for Single Parent

Hello,

I am a single parent of 1.5 year old, in an unfortunate accident my husband passed away last month. I am going through very tough time and would like to visit my sister in Canada for couple of months. My sister is a permanent resident in Canada and can give me sponsor letter.

My question is, how can i make my profile strong so that I do not get rejected for the visa.

Current situation:
I am not working currently, I live with my father and my father is my only blood relative in India (he has super visa sponsored by my sister), I have other relatives like Uncles and aunts in India. I have around 5 lakhs INR in bank account as fixed deposits and have property (having valuation of INR 12 Lakhs). I have visited US in the past for couple of months as a visitor and have valid US B1 visa for next 5 years.

Please suggest, how can i make my profile strong so that I do not get rejected for the visa. I would highly appreciate any help!

Are you planning on taking your child? Your application needs to show strong ties and your own liquid savings. You also don't have a job. I am sorry for your loss but your chances of getting a TRV are not very good.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am planning to take my child as well. Would taking my child along can be problem, as I can't leave him back home.

Could you pleas suggest, how can i improve my ties. My father can give me around 6 lakhs INR as a gift. After that total liquid would be around 10 lakhs INR.
Also, my sister has a property in India. Would it work if she make me power of attorney for that property. Her property is worth around 50 lakhs INR.

I am sorry for your loss but your chances of getting a TRV are not very good.

I read on this forum that as I have visited US and have valid US visitor visa, my application would be processed in CAN+ category. Would that help in any way?

Leaving your child in India would create ties to India. No your father can't just transfer you money because your funds need to make sense based on your own situation. Same thing as power of attorney for the land hit still isn't your land. There is no fast way to change your profile. The fact that your father has a supervisa also creates more problems. He could also go to Canada to visit and then the risk of you not returning to Canada is pretty high.

Thank you for the help. I am planning to take a 6 months course (full time) starting Oct this year. Can I show admission to that course and the upfront fee I have paid as another reason to come back.

Yes that would help but not guarantee a visa.

Ok, Would a rejection in TRV impact the future applications (TRV or any other visa)?
If not, I would apply for visitor visa with the current documents I have ( i really want to visit my sis for couple of months) otherwise I will do the course, get a job and will apply after an year.

People get refused all the time. One refusal shouldn't be too damaging to future applications.

Thanks, as I know my intentions are right I want to visit for 2 months and come back but definitely visa officer needs to assess each application strictly to avoid any abuse of the visa.
I would definitely apply, my purpose of travel is to have change in environment and my sis has got a newborn (2 months old) I would like to meet him. I am going to mention this in my purpose of travel. Do you think I should mention specifically about the unfortunate demise of my husband ( i know I am going to anyways provide the deceased date in family information form).

Wouldn't mention the new baby because it will seem like you are going to help and that's considered work. Would say you want to visit your sister and take a break due to the recent loss of your husband before starting a new course.
