Hi Everyone,

Need some advise on the approach I should take for my parents to visit Canada. My wife is pregnant and we are expecting a child in mid December. I intend
to apply for the visitor visa for my parents and below are the questions I need some clarification:
1. Visitor Visa processing time is about 144 days (4.5 months), Biometric not taken into account. In this case I am planning to go with Compassionate ground.
I can get a letter from the doctor stating on the criticality that can occur during delivery.
Do I need to take PHAC approval?
Or
2. Can I simply start with the visitor visa process and within the application will I get to attach the doctors letter to be taken into consideration the gravity of
situation? (Eventually reducing the processing time).

Or is there any other way/route I can take?

Your parents will not be eligible to visit now under current regulations. But your wife's parents are eligible. You can take PHAC approval for them and then apply for TRV. It will take around 2-3 months if you start now.

Thanks on your quick response.
My wife's parents would not be able to travel as they have to take care of my wife's grandmother (she is very old and bed ridden). Just trying to evaluate my options here:
Shall I apply visitor visa for my parents (normal process)? Is there a way to expedite the process as it seems I am late in doing so? Maybe there is a way to mention in the application why are we not applying for my wife's parents instead?

Kindly suggest.

I hope visitor visa through normal process is considered under current regulation?

Yes - your parents would apply through the normal process. There is no way to expedite.

Why you aren't applying for your wife's parents instead is irrelevant and your parents should focus on their reasons for coming to Canada.
