Hi,

I would like to invite my parents over the summer to Canada from India. My father has never been to North America and this will be his first time here and will make a trip to USA as well. My mother has an active 10 year visa for USA at the moment. My husband and myself recently got our PR in Canada.

I have some questions below, if someone can please help answer these:

1. Should my parents apply for USA visitor visa first of Canada visitor visa?
2. What are the way to strengthen their application? I understand, an invitation letter with details of their trip will be nice along with property papers etc. But I am wondering if there is anything else in specific we can attach or add to the application.
3. Should they pre-book their tickets to Canada and then apply? Would showing USA flight tickets be helpful as well?

Thanks you!

Hi,

1. Should my parents apply for USA visitor visa first of Canada visitor visa?
As your mom already has a US B1/B2, she can apply for a Canada TRV under the CAN+ program.

It does not matter whether your dad applies for a US or a Canada visa first.

2. What are the way to strengthen their application? I understand, an invitation letter with details of their trip will be nice along with property papers etc. But I am wondering if there is anything else in specific we can attach or add to the application.
Your parents must demonstrate their strong ties to India: Employment/business + property or land ownership + dependent family + good financial situation (bank balance, FDs, RDs, shares, rental income, etc) + previous travel history (especially to the US/UK/Schengen/Australia)

3. Should they pre-book their tickets to Canada and then apply? Would showing USA flight tickets be helpful as well?
It's never a good idea to book confirmed plane tickets before visas are issued

Cheers

Sindhu,

CAN+ is available to Indian passport holders who have either traveled Canada or the US in the last 10 years, or have a valid US visa

You must meet LICO (Low Income Cut Off) to be able to sponsor your dad for a super visa. This means you must have adequate finances to support yourself, your family members, and the parents/grandparents whom you would like to invite

My parents are visiting Canada for their landing summer 2020 and would like to get visitor visa for USA as well. They are first time visitors to the USA - and are getting visas processed from India. Would they need to submit financial documents (applying as Indian passport holder) or would they be applying as Canadian PR where the documents are pretty much less?

They aren’t Canadian PRs yet
