Hello, I am planning to apply for a tourist visa for my in-laws but they don't have good bank balance or property under their name to show. I have sufficient funds and property both back home and here in Canada along with a well paying job in Canada and I will be supporting them for all their expenses. Can I show my funds while applying for their visa? FYI....my father has a small business back home and my mother is a homemaker. Any advice on this matter would be highly appreciated as I am concerned if they will ever be able to get a visa. Thank you!

You’ll need to include their proof of assets as well. Tough to say whether they will get approved. If denied would consider a supervisa which is primarily based on your finances

Hi, thanks for replying. I was wondering if there are similar cases I could learn from. It's just that Supervisa is difficult to get and has a lot of processing time.

Why is supervisa difficult to get. Processing times are very similar for TRV and supervisa in many cases. Posted estimates are often incorrect.

Hi @canuck78 Sorry it has been a while since you advised me and we had to delay the process for some reason. We are now revisiting the visa again and I see Supervisa takes 50 days compared to 135 days for visitor visa. However, my only concern now is the 1 year medical insurance requirement we'll need to pay for which would be at least 2k. I am also not sure how to buy the insurance before we even know the travel dates and also the duration. It could be just a few days either one of my in-law's visits us.

The estimated processing times are often wrong so I would not base any decisions on the posted times. You should get travel medical insurance even if they apply for a TRV especially if they don’t have the funds to pay for a significant medical expense. For a supervisa you need to purchase one year of supervisa insurance but the policy only cone’s into effect when you travel to Canada. Most policies refund the time you haven’t used but I would look closely at the particulars of each policy available.
