My travel agent applied for my parents visitor visa on January 19 2017 from Delhi. I received an email from the visa office for "Proof of Relationship: Document proving your relationship with your inviter/family member" on Febryary 07 2017, which we have submitted on February 10 2017. From few days the status of the application is shown as "Visa application, tracking ID ---------- is being processed at the Canada Visa Office, NEW DELHI".

My travel agent inquired and informed me that sponsor's documents are being scanned. Any idea why it is taking longer than the standard processing time? Should I contact the visa office to find out the reason? I am really worried why it is taking so long.

Please help me out.

It took longer because you didn't sent the proof in the first place. if you make inquiries, then expect longer delay.

Why would sending a case specific enquiry delay an application? They usually do not reply if your application is within the processing time frame or send you a very generic 'Your application is in process..." email.

You will have to check with the visa office. Like you said "usually" - which means you're not 100% sure and how do you know you are 70% mark?Did CIC tell you this? Why don't you test for yourself? You can send an incomplete application first and then send as many queries to the visa office that process your parents' visa about the chances of being rejected and see the outcome!

But any idea how long it will take? I filled an inquiry form (application is taking more than the processing time) but it says that they will reply within 24 business days. Normally how many months it takes if application is delayed.
What else I can do to find out how long it is going to take?

Are you usually this frustrated all the time? Making incoherent statements? Or did years of CIC experience do this to you?

Take it easy, there is much more to life than to be condescending to people who are new to CIC.

Hi,

Unfortunately, it seems your travel agent had overlooked/forgotten the basics i.e to include proof of relationship documents. On the positive side, IRCC requested for these documents (i.e. gave your parents' apps a chance) instead of outright refusals.

As steaky has mentioned, submitting these additional documents has delayed the processing of their applications. This request for additional documents means their apps have moved to the back of the visa processing queue.

Estimated processing time applies to cases where IRCC receives applications which are complete in every way. This estimated processing time does not apply to your parents' apps.

I would ask the travel agent to show you the updates in the MyCIC account (or you can try to link their apps to their online account if you have not appointed the travel agent as your parents' representative). This will give you a better idea.

Also, as you have already sent a CSE, there's nothing else that you can do but to wait for decisions

Cheers
