Hi,
I had applied for visitor visa for my mother. She will be visiting my sister who is 18 year old and will be starting her studies in canada from 5th Sept 2023. She is a housewife so I had sponsored and attached my bank statements along with her Pf account and property papers as proof of funds.
her visa got refused today on grounds of insufficient funds. What should i do next?

She had applied for 3 months stay to help my sister settle down in canada
3 months is quite a long stay. How much did you show in funds in Canadian dollars?

I would recommend shortening the trip to 3 weeks and showing additional funds / ties to the home country.

That's pretty low for a 3 month stay. The flight alone will likely cost more than 1600. If you want to reapply, reduce the length of the visit to 2-3 weeks and see if you can increase the funds.

If I reduce the duration will this amount be sufficient. Also, me sponsoring my mother is it fine? And should I elaborate all the funds in the SOP as well?

No one here can tell you if this will be sufficient. That will be up to IRCC.

It's far better if your mother can show her own funds and if she has sufficient funds to cover the full trip herself. However you can certainly try to sponsor her. Sure, you can include a SOP.

I would do whatever you can to try to strengthen the application.
