His plans are to visit me.
This is not a plan. CIC would want to see a concrete and solid reason for him to be here. Staying with you raises many questions and will very likely result in refusal.

Not good. CIC would want to know what are your intentions... as open as they are it might result in him not leaving at the end of his stay.

he will be paying for his trip. He has around 7500 usd saved up.
Good.
Now your other questions:
How do you plan to invite him if you do not say you are his gf? A friend? This would be dishonest and definitely would raise questions, as "visit me" is not something a person travels to do. This is a red flag.
Your common law marriage in Ecuador is documented? Do you have a document that states this? You can attach the document (if in Spanish then a certified translation). CIC will then be concerned on what are your plans. As open as they are this is also a red flag. As per CICs definition of common law you are not eligible, its definition is for Canada only, other countries have to prove somehow they are common law. If you do not have a way of proving the common law then he is just your bf. As proof of relationship you can include common places where you were (for example if you were classmates then letter of enrollment where both show same courses), in this case you have to be creative.
Based on what you have shared I see a weak application. Make sure you work on it before submitting.
