Visitor Visa for infant

I'm on work permit which is going to expire in June 2017 and I'm in Canada right now.

1. My child will be born in Jan 2017. How soon I need to apply the visitor visa of my child as I'm having my work permit valid till June 2017. Will they give the visitor visa for my child as my work permit will be valid only for 4-5 months that time when I will be applying?

2. If I get the visitor visa for my child in time, will I be able to bring them to Canada by April 2017?

You'll need to apply for a passport for your baby first.

IMO, the chances of your baby getting a TRV are low as your work permit will expire 4-5 months after s/he is born/applies for a TRV. You can certainly try though

As Brianna mentioned, you need to have a passport applied and issued first, first for your kid. Which I believe can be done in 1-2 weeks in most of the countries. But you need the supporting docs for it (which I know for some countries may take long).

I'd really give it a try and apply for the Visa, even if the WP validity is short. In that way, you may have a valid case of the TRV applicants intent to return. Write a good cover letter making a case of meeting your kid and wife and having your wife see some places etc etc.
