Visitor Visa for Filipina

I have a friend from the Philippines who is looking to come to Canada in December.

She is 26, has a full-time job in finance (one she has held for more than 3 years) and has a lease on apartment. She has previously travelled to Macau and Malaysia and in May I will be meeting up with her in Hong Kong for a week. I should add that I am also the same age as her and that we met while I was on vacation in the Philippines last year.

The plan is for her to come visit me during the Christmas holidays for 7 days. She would be staying with me the entire time while in Canada and she would need to spend very little money once actually here. I live on Vancouver Island, so the stuff we would be doing is generally stuff that involves the outdoors spending no more than $50-$70 for the day. There would also be time spent with my family.

I have spent time going through this forum and reading stuff online. However, I figured I'd just create a thread and ask everyone a number of questions that I have regarding the application process for a visitor visa.

1) Does she need to purchase a return ticket prior to applying for the visa?

2) If applying for a multiple entry visa does she need to state that she plans on making a return trip to Canada at a future date (regardless of whether she actually knows the date she plans to come back)?

3) Do I need to provide proof our friendship/relationship (whatever you want to call it)? We're travelling to HK in May together and we talk everyday.

4) Should she get denied how long until she can re-apply?
a) Is there an appeal process?

I am not too concerned about her being rejected for the visa, although I know the government doesn't just hand these things out like candy. Her financial situation is OK, as she is definitely not poor. She works at a company where she oversees payroll and deals with large financial transactions. Her travel history is good, although she has not been to a country like Japan, where those citizens do not need a visa to come to Canada.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As my experience .... she need to apply only as a tourist(chances are positive at your side hope yuh understand better)....
few things yuh need to arrange
- covering letter that she want to visit beautiful country, Niagara fall (else where make itinerary as well where she want to visit, when)
- hotel booking (for stay) ,
- Air Ticket (return too),
- employment letter (No objection certificate from employee IS MUST )
- bank statement,
- TAX papers
- salary slip,
- property document ,
- old-new passport.

..i know that Christmas is a best occasion to celebrate but it would be suggest-able that apply in between April-October (saying because on Christmas alone in another country ...like ....chance to refuse)

Hope she got visa (chances 80 % + )

Hi! I am from Philippines. I applied for tourist and I got it for the second time. Is she your girlfriend? what is your plans when she get in Canada? Prepare a day by day itinerary with estimate expenses. Even though, she plans to stay there for 7 days, I would suggest 3-4 weeks.

All she need to do is to show strong ties to the Philippines like employment, properties and families.
For the employment, she needs to secure employment letter + approved leave letter, payslip and iTR. Include also lease of contract for her apartment, OR/CR if she has a car. Is her family financially dependent on her? Show proof.

Thanks to both of you for for the replies.

Yes, she is my girlfriend, although I am a little weary of admitting that only because I know that'll make it more likely for the government to reject her. I should be up front that though.

Our plans are very straightforward. I live on Vancouver Island we'll be doing stuff like visiting Nanaimo, Tofino and Victoria. We're both into outdoors stuff, so we would be hiking and doing nature related activities. We would also be spending Christmas with my parents and potentially some of family on the Lower Mainland.

We would like for her to come and stay for longer, however she would have to work. I don't think she could get that kind of time off work. However, I could ask her. Would the chances of being accepted increase significantly if she applies to stay here longer?

In the invitation letter should I provide the itinerary?

Hi! I've known people here in this forum who applied TRV to visit their boyfriend and girlfriend in Canada and got visa. all they have to do is show strong ties to their home country like employment, family and land ownership. Your girlfriend can do that also. Ask her to prepare a cover letter and explain reasons why she would definitely come back to the PH.

You can include that activities in your invitation letter. I would suggest day by day itinerary so that VO will actually see your plans.

Thanks

Eight,

One last question. Her passport expires in June of 2017 and we're looking at having her come here for December 2016. Does she need to renew her passport before applying for visa?

1. No, but any TRV issued or visitor record on entry will expire June/17.

Hi!
There are countries require passport at least 6 months and there are some 1-3 months. I believe, only Canada, UK,AUS and US will let travelers in with passports valid for duration of stay. Since Canada issues most of the time multiple entry, I suggest renew her passport, but she opts not to renew.

It doesn't matter as long as she has a return flight.

Also I want to point out that before I even read your entire first post, I knew this friend of yours is actually a g/f, since you talked about her visiting you and your parents, and spending time together, it sounds more like a g/f b/f than just a friend. My point is, these officers are very good at spotting lies and if your g/f makes it to the border for questioning, she should definitely be upfront and honest and mention she's visiting her b/f rather than lying. Lying will likely be spotted whether it's through the officers or she just simply cracks under pressure, and if they find she's not honest at the beginning, they could very well refuse her entry because she's likely not a genuine visitor.

Just tell her to be completely honest about what she's planning on doing in Canada and who she's seeing. They won't necessarily refuse entry just because she's seeing a b/f, they will refuse if they don't think she's a genuine visitor who will return home.

We decided to go the honest route and explain everything up front. My invitation letter and her invitation letter explain that we're a couple, that we've travelled internationally together and outline why I've invited her to Canada; i.e. to meet my parents and extended family. My mother also wrote her an invite letter, both have been notarized.

Thanks for the information regarding the return flight. I appreciate it. Does it matter who pays for the flight?
