Hi, I am a born and raised Canadian who has my husband living in Senegal (he is Senegalese). I have NOT started sponsoring him as I have just gotten back to Canada like a month ago. I want him to come for Christmas and spend Christmas with my family. I am going to have him apply for a visitor visa and will send him a letter of invitation from my family who have more than enough money to take care of him while he is here. My parents have never met my husband and would love to meet him, Christmas would be a good time. I am not able to take time off work at Christmas to go see him because my job enforces a policy that we cannot take vacation time during Christmas (I work retail). I have a letter of invitation ready for him stating that he will go back to Senegal after Christmas and the we will pay EVERYTHING and I also have 27 letters of support from my family and friends. What do you think my chances on getting him a visitor visa are or am I just beating a dead horse?

Remember you need more than proof he will be adequately cared for while he's in Canada. Gather every bit of proof that he has reason to return to Senegal that does not trump the fact that he is married to you. A letter from his employer, stating how long he has been working there, his vacation period and when he is expected back at work. Proof of home ownership, if he has such, or proof of his lease/rental agreement. Land title, if he owns any. Basically, whatever you have that shows he is tied to Senegal will be necessary. If he is self-employed, show why he can be expected to return to continue with his business interests.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunatley, my husband is 24, does not own a house and does not have any asssets. He private tutors English but does not have a steady job as he just moved back to Senegal from Italy. I don't know what we can possibly do to satisfy them that he will go back to Senegal.
