Dear All,

I would kindly ask for some information based on yours/other people's experiences , opinions...
Assuming that I am PR card holder. And would like my family (spouse and kind) to visit me in Canada. Wife is working in her home country.

1) Should she get a visitor multi-entry visa without any problems? I heard that visitor visa's are being issued for no less than 6 months?
2) Any thoughts on the following strategy.....
I will sponsor my family to join me visitors. Once being granted entrance to Canada, I will sponsor them for PR but will file the application outside Canada as it is faster. Any thoughts?

Pls advise.Thanks
Kind regards

1) Unfortunately the chances of your family obtaining a visitor visa are not in your favour. To be approved for a visitor visa, you must prove you have strong ties to your home country and have no plans to remain in Canada long term. Since you are a PR, CIC will likely suspect your wife has plans to eventually make Canada her home and there's a good chance they will deny the visit visa. (Spouses of PRs and citizens are often denied visitor visas.) There's no reason you can't try to apply - but there's definitely a big chance of rejection.
2) Yes - you can sponsor you family outland while they are in Canada.

Yes, a TRV is valid for up to 6 months (unless you request one for a longer stay) and is usually issued for a single entry.

True, there's a very small chance of getting TRVs for your spouse and child, though... You can always try, you never know.

Average processing time for inland applications is around 20 months, for outland apps see by country here:
