Visitor Visa Extension

Hello!
I need some advice.
My visitor visa is expiring on Feb 08, and I am about to start my visa extension application.
So, my sponsor and I applied for outland sponsorship on Nov 24. The waiting time for stage 1 is right now 58 days; the second stage for my country is up to 11 months.
On this question: How long are you planning to stay in Canada? Should i choose less or more than 6 months?
I am afraid that they might deny me more than 6 months.. What do you think?

Request 1 year and include proof (copy of your receipts for sponsorship) with your extension request. I'd wait as long as possible to submit the extension...like a couple of weeks before your current one expires.
