Hello All,

My girlfriend recently got her Temporary Multiple entry Canadian Visitor Visa approved. On collection we noticed she only got 1 year for her visa to be valid (valid to 31/10/2020) even though her passport expires in 2028.

Is this normal?

It is IRCC's decision. Sometimes they give 5-10 years. For others, the expiry is a day before their passport's expiry date.
Do not fret. It is still a blessing that your GF got the visa.

My wife initially got a visa for 6 months, and the next extension she got was for 1 year. I'd say, you're in good shape.

Also remember that Poe officer can 'normally' restrict the length of each trip.

Travel history with no overstays will help in getting longer Visa in next application
