Visitor visa expiring+ Passport renewal ?

My mother got the visitor visa for 10 years. My father got it only for a couple of years (until his passport expired). He lives out of Canada and just got a new passport. There is still 4-5 months visitor visa validity left for him. How does he go about extending his visitor visa.

He needs to apply for a new TRV, following the same process as he did the first time.

The TRV cannot be extended.
