Hi,

I am currently working in canada, I want to call my friend here on a tourist visa from India. She is married and her husband works in India. She is not working anywhere at the moment.

What are her chances? Also how much funds will she need to show?

If visitor visa is not the option, do you think she can get a study permit? She is around 32 years old.

thanks,

Abhi

Hi Abhi,

No one can say whether or not she will be issued a TRV. It all depends on her personal situation (finances, purpose of visit, ties to India, etc)

You'll have to provide more information/post specific questions so we can advise.

As an unofficial guide (not a rule), she must have approx. CAD 1000 per week of visit + airfare + surplus funds

All the best :)

Thanks Bryanna,

She has funds, but as fixed deposits etc, not much in Liquid. Do you think having funds as fixed deposits / jewelery counts?

Purpose of visit is just tourism, she is also ok with doing some short term course if it increases the chances of getting the visa. She wants to come here for atleast 6 months.

As far as family ties are concerned, She doesnt have much immediate family apart from husband (who is working in india) and mother. She has extented family in india.

Thanks for your help,

Abhi

She must show liquid funds available for the visit.

The other option is to encash some FDs prematurely and transfer the amount to her bank account + submit evidence that these funds are originally hers..... or else to take loans of up to 90% against the FDs and transfer these funds to her bank account by proving it is her money/not borrowed.

Jewelry evaluation only helps to show the applicant's financial situation, in a way.... some people prefer to invest in gold instead of financial investments. However, jewelry does not count as funds for the visit.

Does she have shares, EPF/PPF, etc?

It appears that she intends to remain in Canada long-term on a TRV.... this may result in a refusal.

6 months would mean her ties to India, including to her husband and her mother, are not strong..... also she is not employed which further weakens her case

In my opinion, she should resume working..... build a good bank balance (instead of encashing/taking loans against FDs)..... and then apply for a TRV

Cheers :)
