Hi,
Do check this link: http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/india/

It is not compulsory to apply through VFS..... your parents can apply online, if they prefer

You cannot sponsor someone for a visit visa..... you can only host/invite them.... you can submit your documents for your parents' visa applications if your financials, etc are adequate

If your parents have valid US visas then they can apply under the Can+ category.... the application form is the same.... they must tell the VFS officials that they are submitting the TRV applications under Can+.... Benefits are expedited processing and fewer documents to be submitted

No biometric tests

If your parents have very strong ties to India + as you have PR..... then they will most likely get multiple-entry TRVs until the full validity of their passports

For TRVs, the applicants documents are scrutinized more as compared to the hosts' documents. It is the converse for Super visas

Do check this link for Super Visas: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa.asp

All the best :)
I want to apply online for my parents visit visa under Can+ program. I haven't started online application yet. I have below doubts. please help with your experience.

1. Is there a option to choose Can+ program under online application ?

2. I live in US so my parents will come first to USA and then we will go to Canada for 15 days to visit friends by road. so in this case do i need to show return ticket to and from Canada? they already have valid return ticket from US to India.

3. Do I have to include insurance for 15 days visit to Canada in online application?

Hi,

1. The visa application form for a TRV under the Can+ program is the same as the regular TRV form.

If your parents have traveled to Canada or the US in the last 10 years then they are eligible to apply under the Can+ program either online/through a VAC. If your parents submit a paper application at a VAC then the VAC staff will straightaway enquire/check their passports for previous travel to Canada/USA and consider their applications under Can+.

Your parents must submit proofs of their previous Canada/US visit (for eg: entry/exit stamps in their passports) for Can+.

2. You can submit a detailed itinerary for India-US-Canada-US-India.... and state that the US-Canada-US stretch will be road trips + submit proofs of their ticket bookings to/from the US to India

3. It is not compulsory to purchase overseas travel medical insurance for Canada.

However, as healthcare can be extremely expensive for a visitor who is not covered by insurance, it is advisable to purchase an insurance policy for the Americas from India.... which can be cancelled/amended if required. The insurance company will issue the policy in PDF and print versions. You can add it to their TRV applications

All the best :)

Thank you brother. this information is very helpful. Another thing I forgot to ask, since they already have USA visa and coming to USA first as per their plan, is invitation letter from a friend in Canada required to file along with the application? Will they reject file if my parents submit file without invitation letter or hotel booking?

my parent's canada visit visa was refused 2 years back but at that time they did not have USA visa also.

Hi,

They can apply for Can+ if they have visited USA/Canada in the last 10 years.... because they need to show proofs of entry/exit stamps in their passports. Else, it will be regular TRV processing.

Your parents must mention any previous visa refusals (for any country).... including for Canada/USA, etc.... in the TRV application form

Your parents can submit an Invitation Letter from your friend in Canada or tentative hotel bookings.... a day-by-day itinerary for their Canada trip with expense estimates.... funds for their Canada visit (this is necessary if they have NOT visited Canada/US earlier and hence, if they are not applying under Can+).... your parents ties to India (property/business/employment/financial/family/social ties)

All the best :)

I applied online for my mother multiple entry visitor visa on Mar 14, 2015. Status is open and no other docs required at this time.
We included itinerary for flying out on April 06th, 2015, but havn't heard back from CIC ever since. Eventhough it says online application should take faster than a paper one, but I have doubts on online processing now. As New Delhi takes 6 days to process paper applications, and online applicants are waiting over a month to get a decision. :-[

This is great sharing platform. Congratulations abhi - that was lightning fast. Let me ask my question to the experts here -

I am planning to apply for my parents(mum and dad) visitor visa as they want to visit me sometime in 2016 for 3 or 4 months. Would it be too early to start this process ?

I have gone through all the forum posts and cic links in detail and have a clear idea about what is/is not is required to make a successful application online. However, I need some clarification on the two -

a. My dad does not have his own marriage certificate (maybe it was registered bu the document was lost), however can he use his and my mom's passport in lieu of the marriage certificate. The passport does mention my mom as my dad's spouse on his passport and vice-a-versa.

b. Proof of Assets - We own property in Mumbai, India and have bank fixed deposit/share certificate (investments) proofs be enough, would that be enough ? . I read from your previous posts around $10,000 CAD should be enough to prove strong financial backing to travel to Canada , showing self-sufficiency.

thanks for your help !

Hi Mahesh,

The earliest that one can apply is 6 months from the planned date of entry

My dad does not have his own marriage certificate (maybe it was registered bu the document was lost), however can he use his and my mom's passport in lieu of the marriage certificate. The passport does mention my mom as my dad's spouse on his passport and vice-a-versa.
You can submit (a) your birth certificate to show the relationship between your parents as well as yourself..... and (b) copies of all three passports

We own property in Mumbai, India and have bank fixed deposit/share certificate (investments) proofs be enough, would that be enough ? . I read from your previous posts around $10,000 CAD should be enough to prove strong financial backing to travel to Canada , showing self-sufficiency.
a. Property: Submit a self-evaluation of the property.... not necessary to get a CA to do this.... back it with evidence of realty rates (indicative).... if it is loan/mortgage free then mention this

b. Bank fixed deposits: FD Interest Certificates + Mention if they are locked-in or it can be liquidated, if required, for the visit

c. Share Certificates: Add dividend stubs (if available) + copies of shares ownership + market price estimates on the date of applying

d. Bank statements and any other financial investments (PF, PPF, Mutual Funds, Gold/Infrastructure Bonds, etc)

CAD 10000: It depends on how long your parents intend to visit.... the finances shown by them should cover airfare + approx CAD 1000/week (sort of a thumb rule) + surplus funds for any other expenses

Cheers :)
