Hey all,

A friend of mine applied for for a visitor visa through the new portal for his wife on October 18th - there hasn't been an update since. The portal said 14-30 days but nothing has been requested or moved along.

My husband applied to have his brother visit from Ukraine, and the application had movement within 2 weeks and we got a result back in the time they said.

I think it's just taking a long time from India - anyone else have a similar experience?

Jasmine
And Congratulations on your brother in law's application. I am not sure if there are any priorities of immediate family vs extended family etc. It is all a chaos from what I see

Once you get PPR, you need to fill in VFS passport submission webform. They will send you a link for courier charges. The link is valid only for 10 or 12 hrs. Upon payment, they will send you an AWB # and send the same to Blue dart. Also instructions on how to prepare the package. Blue Dart will contact you by SMS and pick up the package. You can track using the AWB. After that you will get an email containing IRCC tracking and return AWB #. Expect delays at every step. If you have already paid for Premium lounge services, you need to pay again because will completely ignore the previous payment.

Sorry for the stupid question, I have just applied my parent's visitor visa using gckey ( As I wasn't aware of the new IRCC portal). Is it mandatory to submit any new visitor visa application using only the new IRCC portal?

Are applications for TRV on the New portal yielding any results at all ? I see those applications have been halted for and IRCC has switched over to GC Key. Should applicants who are waiting over 60 days on the portal, re-apply using GC Key? Any suggestions are highly appreciated. Applied Oct 25, 2021

Using the new IRCC portal, can we apply for visitor visa for dependents(Wife+Son) for stay more than 6 months? Currently I am in Canada and I want them to stay with me for the duration of my work permit time(Oct 23). But the portal says visitor visa for upto 6 months only. I am not sure if applying visa IRCC GC account is different from the new portal in my scenario

Scores of applicants from Oct and Nov have been stuck forever. Some september files too. Families torn apart and I am one of the victims of this disaster.
I'm so sorry you're going through that. Where did you look to find out that the October and November files are backlogged/stuck?
Has there been an update on when they will possibly move things along?

Thank you!
What a shame, India is always backlogged unfortunately with everything. I agree, definite chaos.

SUCCESS!!!
GCKey Application (Old Portal; wasn't aware of the new portal at the time of application)
Parents Visitor Visa Application from India:

Applied: 22 December 2021
BIL: 23 December 2021
Biometrics: 05 January 2022 (updated same day on the profiles)
Review Started: 13 or 14 January 2022
BVL & PPR: 20 January 2022 (exactly 15 days after Biometrics)

It is their first Visa application for any country.
Mother working (Govt employee) and Father retired (Govt job).
For anyone wondering about the efficacy of the old portal, It is working and you don't need to be scared and reapply in the new portal.
Just make sure that your documents are in order and updated.
Thank you to each and everyone of you who shares and who helps others. I hope everyone hears good news soon.

Hello,

Like many I am also waiting for any information re my parents visa application which was filed before 7th September 2021. There has been absolutely no update. I see many references of a web form, can someone please let me know which web form to fill to get any information on the status?
I too filed before 7th September, and waiting for result

I'm writing again hoping someone has an update.

I applied for a visitor visa in Dec 2020 for my parents but could only do the biometrics in August 2021 because VFS offices in India were closed for temp resident visas related processing because of covid. The biometrics status is updated but I haven't heard anything after that, I tried emailing/calling but absolutely no use.

Does anyone know how long it'll take or if there's anyway to find out? Any contact number that I can call in Canada or email?

Also some of the documents submitted would now be outdated eg. my Canada rent agreement was attached as one of the documents as part of the invitation letter, would updating this make any different to the application? I've been waiting for them to ask for more info or updated documents.
Any update
