I submitted my father's Canada Visitor Visa application on 16th April 2024, he was in India at that time.
After that he traveled to USA and we completed his biometrics here in USA on 7th May 2024.
His application status now shows Biometrics Completed on 8th May 2024 and all details of Biometrics are there but it has been stuck at background check status for last 3-4 weeks. In the application his permanent residence was address in INDIA but Mailing address and phone number was my address and number in USA since we knew he will be in USA.
Is it normal for the application to stay stuck in background check state for such a long time? Also, which visa office will be working on his file - India or USA?
He has a valid US visitor visa which was attached to his application so he should have been part of CAN+ expedited processing but seems like thats not the case.
We have a trip to Canada booked for 30th June 2024 so its cutting very close.
Any insights or guidance to help expedite his case will be appreciated.
