Visitor Visa – 3rd Attempt for My Sister-in-Law | Feedback Welcome

Hi everyone,

We just submitted a 3rd visitor visa application for my sister-in-law (Indian citizen) and would love your thoughts.

Application History:
  • June 2022: Applied with my in-laws → her visa refused (in-laws approved).
  • Sept 2022: Reapplied with medical background (Disclosed that she had meningitis, was fully dependent) → refused again.
  • GCMS Notes: Refusals cited “lack of ties” and “weak finances” (LUCKLIY - no mention of medical reasons).
We waited over 2 years before reapplying.

✅ What’s Changed:
  • She’s now working full-time (Sales Associate since Aug 2023, ₹35K/month).
  • Has ₹619,000 (~CAD $10K) in her account.
  • This time, we did not show full sponsorship - positioned her as financially stable and working.
  • Visit purpose is clear and focused: to attend the Ganesh Festival (Aug 27, 2025) and reunite with her twin sister (my wife) - we avoided generic tourism reasons.
  • Intended stay: ~2 months.
Current Application:
  • Applied: June 29, 2025 via new IRCC portal
  • Note: No IMM forms or photo upload requested (IS THIS NORMAL?)
Documents Submitted:

Sister-in-law:
  1. Cover letter (focused on family visit + festival)
  2. Bank statement (Sept 2023–present, ₹619K)
  3. 6 months’ pay slips
  4. 2-month employer leave letter
  5. Doctor’s note (seizure-free 2+ years)
  6. RIMI travel insurance ($500K, $0 deductible, 2 months
My Wife (Host):
  1. 6 months’ bank statement (CAD $21,500)
  2. 6 months’ pay slips
  3. Letter of invitation (for Ganesh Festival)
  4. Birth certificates (proving sibling/twin relationship)
  5. Mention of our new home purchased in 2024
  6. Copies of our passports + Canadian citizenship certificates
❓Looking For:
  • Honest feedback on her chances this time
  • Similar reapplication success stories
  • Any advice on how IRCC may view this improved situation
Thanks so much in advance!

Disappointingly, we recieved a refusal letter this evening. Reason given was the purpose of your visit is inconsistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided. This was the reason we got last time we applied in March 2025 as well. When I requested the GCMS notes for the last application, the notes didn't say anything more than the refusal letter. No explanation or anything.

I'm very disappointed. Is there anything I can do? The refusal doesn't make sense to me.
So who applied, profile, length of visit, ties to return etc. What did you change from the first and second application. Would not apply again for at least 6 months. Applying again with two refusals within a few months is not recommended.

Applying from: Karachi, Pakistan (31 days processing time)

Application submitted: May 30
Biometrics: Completed as part of a previous application attempt
Background verification: In progress
Eligibility: Not started

As of today, the application has been submitted for 31 days and we have no response. The application status tracker says that May 30 was the last update (day we applied). What should I do? Should I submit a webform inquiring about it?
same here my sister applied from Karachi on May 12th and May 15th biometrics done after that nothing a longggggg silence.

Who applied: Me and my wife prepared the application for my father-in-law. It was his account that we applied through.

Length of visit: 3.5 months. The first attempt was only 1 month.

Ties to return: He has a business to run back home, has other children and a number of properties that he can't just abandon.

The change in the second attempt was a lot of my own documents as the son-in-law: NOA, bank statements, property tax documents, letter of employment, character reference letter. For my wife, she also included a letter from her midwife that stated that having her father here will be good for her health.

So you didn't apply. FIL is the applicant.

Coming for 3.5 months shows no ties to return. Leaving a business and children under 22 makes no sense. Family ties are spouse and children under 22. Should have asked for 2-3 week business.

Your documents don't add anything to his application to show that he will return but may just show stronger ties to Canada than home. Your bank statements, taxes etc. aren't relevant. Need to show how he cannot abandon properties - who is maintaining, property management, rental agreements etc. Include his children under 22 and their school registration and explain who is caring for them.

My wife was noted as the representative. Can I apply? I thought only the person seeking visa can apply.

My wife is pregnant and expecting our first child, so we said 3.5 months. In the previous attempt, we said only 4 weeks and got the same response. An immigration consultant we spoke with said that because of the pregnancy, we should extend it to longer because it would be a reasonable thing to stay for longer.

Hi Guys, it has been 2 months since my parents submitted the application and we haven't received any update ( exceeded the processing time for India). Webforms and calls are not of any help. Is someone in the same boat

I applied for my Client on May 13, 2025. Got Biometrics request on May 20, 2025. Biometrics submitted on May 23, 2025. In the Biometrics section of IRCC Portal, the date is May 31, 2025 Completed. After that 34 days no Update. When can we expect an approval?
