Good evening, does anyone know if my wife will have to go back to Philippines after they ask for her passport by the end of the process?
i just got my sponsor approval and i'm wondering if we get a visitor visa approved and she comes here for 6 or 12 months with extension, but what if the Manila office approves and demands her passport, will she have to go back? does she need to go out and re-enter the country? can't we just send her passport from Canada and then when they send it back with the permanent resident visa, her parents could send it to here. I'm asking because plane tickets are so expensive... :(
thanks for your help.

She can mail the passport to Manila. She will need to leave Canada to land as a PR, either by flagpoling at the Canada-US border or by leaving and re-entering on an international flight.

Actually, if she is in Canada, even on an outland application, she can send the passport to Ottawa. They include the option for those people in Canada at the time they receive their COPR. Takes about 3 weeks.
And she can do her landing at a CIC office in Canada. Just have to make an appointment before your visa expires.

But how exactly do we do that and what address do we send it to? is there an official web page on CIC site with forms to download or something?
thanks.

They send the information and address to send the passport to with the COPR. You supply a Xpress Post envelope with the passport, addressed to your address in Canada, and they send it back that way. If you don't send the return envelope, they just pop it in the mail to the Canadian address you have supplied.

will they tell me to send the passport to Ottawa or Philippines? if they say to phillipines, then can i call them and ask to send to ottawa for faster processing?

They give you options where to send it, depending on where you are. If you are in the Philippines, follow those instructions provided for the Philippines. If you are in Canada, follow those instructions.

Actually can you please tell me that is the UCI required to apply for the visitors visa for Canada ?? I have already filed by case and it has reached CIC on 12 January . But I want to fly to Canada to see my husband. Is UCI required for filing or visitors visa ??
