I applied for a visit visa for my wife on 1st March , she is currently residing in Qatar , but she has a Syrian passport. We are both living in Qatar , and I am a Canadian citizen , and my kids are Canadian as well. We have our tickets booked for 30th April , which is attached with the application , until now on the site it says the application is being processed. Just wondering , who I can contact in order to get a further update , as the VFS Qatar is unable to help me . and I have emailed the Abu dhabi consulate but they haven't responded. Can someone let me know what I can do ?

Also please note I have been let go from my job , last week , and I don't really have much time , I am planning to reside in Canada.

There's really nothing you can do but wait. You should also understand there is no guarantee your wife's visitor visa will be approved - and in fact there's certainly a chance you may be looking at a refusal. You should have a plan in place for what you will do if she is refused.

Visitor visas are not meant to be used to move to Canada - they are meant to be used by people visiting Canada temporarily. If you indicated that you need the visitor visa for your wife in order to move her to Canada permanently, I'm not sure this will be looked upon favourably by officials processing the application (although you never know, you might get lucky). We do see a fairly high rate of refusals here for visitor visa applications for spouses of Canadians specifically because CIC is concerned the spouse is not a genuine visitor but is attempting to use the visa to move to Canada long term.

Have you already initiated an application to sponsor her for PR? This is what you need to do in order for her to be allowed to move to Canada and live here.

Good luck. Hopefully you'll luck out and get an approved. But again, I'd very strongly recommend you have a Plan B in place since that's far from guaranteed.

My intention was not for her to move there , my intention was to visit my parents , and I have applied before being let go from the company. Now do you think it would be a good idea to go to the embassy and let them know that I was let go , will that effect the outcome negatively if I let them know? or should I just be silent about it and wait for the visa.

Letting the embassy know you have been let go will probably have a negative impact since it will reduce your wife's ties to Qatar and make it more likely CIC will suspect she is trying to move to Canada.
