You can change status from visitor to TFW if you find a job that will offer you a LMO. However, those jobs are rare and competition is fierce. If this is your only reason for visiting Canada, you may be disappointed.

I am a very qualified candidate with years of management experience in restaurant and retail. I haven't even gotten one phone call from any employer in 15 months as a visitor. Unless you have someone that you already know, finding LMO is hard. I live in Calgary too, which has lots of jobs.. For citizens and PRs.

You should be able to. When you go to My CIC there should be an assessment to tell you if you're eligible. Obviously I can't log in for you, but create your access key if you don't have one, then log in. Once you're in, request to change status from visitor to TFW. The first thing you'll do is determine eligibility. Simce you were already admitted as a visitor, as long as you have the LMO, you should be fine.

If you do the online application, you'll need a scanner or very good camera to upload copies/pictures of the LMO and job offer letter. MyCIC sometimes is very busy, so use a desktop with a hard wired Internet connection if you can - as opposed to a laptop on wifi.

hi there.. you know what converting from visitor to work permit needs lot of work and patience.. but if you know someone that is currently working here, you may ask them if they know employers whose accepting foreign workers.. try the website of kijiji.ca/ jobs... search open lmo or lmo..some employers are advertising their hiring in this website... hope this will help...

Hi guys,

So this mean that a visitor who wants to change her status to worker can now be done ONLINE? It used to be done outside canada or in the border. Please enlighten me here as I have a cousin who has LMO and she would like to change her status.

Thanks!

Cat :)

She'll need to see if she's eligible. See my post above for the link.
