but is that possible? It's extremely difficult to do this - next to impossible. In order to apply for a work permit, you will need a full time job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer will need to obtain an approved LMIA. Most employers aren't willing to go through the LMIA process.
but is that possible?
thanksAgain, it's extremely difficult. Most people are not successful.
dear Scylla ..... my (only child) son is pr Canada and likely citizen next year ...... he wants to sponsor us parents - but I want to come only if I can work in Canada ..... my son qualifies and parent sponsor is likely to go through but it takes 4 or 5 years ..... this is too long a period ...... can I work in Canada after acceptance of sponsorship of my application ..... at what stage after submission of my application can I apply for work permit and how long does it take to reach such a stage ........ can I come and get work permit before getting formal pr ...... thanking in advance for your advice and regards .... No - it's not possible to work before getting formal PR. You will not be able to work in Canada until the processing of the application processing has been 100% completed, your PR visa has been issued and you have arrived in Canada and become a PR.
If you want to work before you are a PR, you need a job offer from an employer in Canada and an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.
thanks Scylla ...... yes i understand this ...... kind of you to understand and also post on centennial college post - my other query .... most grateful ....... pls inform me about these things ..... 1.....what about after approval/acceptance in principle is issued - can i apply for work permit ? ...... or it not for sponsored parents ...... 2 ... can I work in my son's business or gas station ? ...... I dont want to move on super visa as my visit if ever will be short period for say 3 months .....3..... should I apply for super visa - will it help in getting a study permit .... thanks and regards
I answered your question previously. No - you cannot work after approval/acceptance in principle. And no - you cannot work in your son's business or gas station. You can only work once you are officially a PR.
No - getting a super visa will not increase your chances of getting an approved study permit. For a study permit to be approved, you need to prove that you are a genuine student and that you aren't using the study permit simply as a means of getting to Canada. You will need to show that you have strong ties to your home country and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term. You will also have to show that your planned studies in Canada make sense based on your previous education and work experience.
Dear Scylla ...... 1. I am told that spouse can work - OWP - after approval/acceptance in principle - is this true ....... 2..... wont they consider that am a would be immigrant - just a matter of time thats all ...... in fact am also considering to take admission in CA Inter course here in India - but if I have to go to Canada and get no credit for it .... one gets credit only if one has passed the full course that is cleared CA Final and 3-yrs article-ship ..... I think it is better to start in Canada itself .as that would be time when I already got my PR ..... in fact I would be a pr earlier even my son applies next year ..... I am only considering study permit so I can work - and it would be in interest of Canada only to let me work after study so I dont depend on State and earn and pay tax as well ..... my son earns upwards of 100,000 cad p.a and his income is likely to increase in future ..... I have a settled life here and its only a matter of family unification and my self respect ...... I have relatives in USA and may try to get into similar course there - now checking on this ok ..... thanks for time and effort Scylla i truly appreciate - am fine here and wait for pr ..... regards - PzSingh
Yes - a spouse who is sponsored inland can also apply for an OWP. OWPs are NOT granted to parents who have been sponsored. You can ask this question as many times as you want to - however the answer isn't going to magically change. One final time - you will not be able to work until you are officially a PR.
If someone is offered a job offer with lmia and currently is a visitor inside canada and they have no prior experience but the employer is willing to train. Will the person applying for a work permit be approved even if he or she has no work experience ?
Thank you ! Another question. If ever it indeed did get denied, would it effect her or his visit in canada ? Could it be revoked or be told to go back to their home country ?It will be up to IRCC. IRCC will sometimes refuse applications when the applicant has no related work experience. Both approval and refusal are possible
