Hi,

I came to Canada on work permit on 23 Mar 2015, my wife came on May 1st 2015 on dependent visa. During her immigration, officer stamped on her passport to stay until 30 Oct 2015 (6 months).

I have applied for extension of stay for my wife on 2nd October 2015. I haven't received any update from cic.

The problem is my work permit, visa and my wife's visa is expiring on 20 Feb 2016. I have already applied for work permit extension. What if my wife doesn't receive extension record by 20 Feb 2016. Can she still stay in Canada ?

Please advise me. Thanks in advance

Chaitanya

Thanks Jalex.

While applying for my wife's stay extension in application I have mentioned stay until visa expiry ( 20 Feb 2016). Do they give extension beyond 20 Feb 2016, because 20 Feb is now closer.

If my wife receives extension record after 20 Feb with stay until 20 feb. Can you please suggest me what can be done during that situation.

Chaitanya

Hi Chaitanya 777,
for your wife, each maximum TRV is six months, assuming you have filled last October but did not received emailed back from cic., do not panic! She is under "Implied Status" meaning she is allowed to stay until decision is made ( you will received email from cic).that being said should cover from October to March 2016., however you only asked for extension until February., and if ever they will grant you the next move is again you still need to apply for another visa extension you should anticipate the date On February 20,2016. If before this date you don't received email you can send your extension., and I advice that you request for one year instead of six months. Your reference should always be the point of entry of your wife., then count 6 months.

you just file for your visa extension and you will be fine.
God bless

TRV expiration date and visitor status are two different things and are not affected by each other.

It doesn't matter when the TRV expires for the extension, so don't worry about that. The visitor status extension will be given for as long as they consider you qualify/need.
