Visitor status for mother, passport will expire soon

Hello to everyone, I need some help with this situation!

My mother's visitor record will expire on Dec 10. Also her passport will expire on February 25, 2017. She also has a visitor's visa until February 25, 2017. It will take around 3 months to get a new passport if we do it from Canada.

What would be the best to solve this problem?

If I got it right my idea is:
- apply for a new passport right now.
- on November 10 apply for a new visitor's record which would be until February 25.
- When new passport arrives apply for a new Visitor's visa. It should come around mid January. Plus around 2 weeks to get Visa.
- She doesn't need to apply for a visitor's record again, right?

Thanks for any help!

If I got it right my idea is:
- apply for a new passport right now. correct
- on November 10 apply for a new visitor's record which would be until February 25.correct, but you will be applying for "an extension to remain in Canada as a visitor"
- When new passport arrives apply for a new Visitor's visa. It should come around mid January. Plus around 2 weeks to get Visa.No such thing as a "visitor visa"... when the new passport arrives you will need to apply for another extension (from feb 25 onwards). If she wants to apply for a new TRV then she will have to do this abroad (this is optional, but needed if she wants to travel and come back to Canada).
- She doesn't need to apply for a visitor's record again, right? see previous answer
Answer above.

Thanks for the answer, Jalex23.
Yes, she will need TRA. Is it possible to get it only abroad? Maybe flagpole? Then it should be done after she got another extension, right?
If flagpole is an option will she be able to get TRA for at least 2 years or it will be pinned to the Visitors Record end date (which is just 6 months)?

Yes, abroad.

There are some options in the US that serve individuals in visitor status that want to make their application via mail. Look into those options in the corresponding VPC LA and NY.

Extension and TRV are not related. You can do one without the other.
