Hello,

I applied my grandfather for visitor record to extend his stay in Canada till next year February 2024. He got approved for only 1 month which is December 9, 2023. If he wants to extend until February 2024, does he need to apply again for visitor record? He was also ask to do the medical examination. Can some share some experience if they had the same situation? Thanks!

He needs to apply again to extend. How long has he been here ?
If you asked for longer , and it wasn’t granted, it could be a sign from the IRCC for your grandfather to wrap up their visit here and return home
And he needs to do the medical

What do you mean if I ask longer? From my previous application or for this coming new application so that he can stay until February 2024?

You had mentioned you had requested a stay till February 2024, and they only gave a month extra to stay . You can always request for him to stay longer , but you did that , and that wasn’t approved. They only gave a month . So what would change now when you ask for February 2024 ? You already asked for that . But as mentioned, go ahead and reapply for February 2024. They could give it , or say no . Extension requests aren’t guaranteed

Oh I see. Regardless, if I wanted to extend his stay, I can but no guarantee they will give another extension. Is that right?

That’s correct . Nothing lost ( except for the fee ) by applying again. By getting the medical done , they could say “ Ok they’ve complied with our request .
Government is BIG on compliance. Frown on non compliance

In general when given a short extension IRCC essentially is indicating nicely that they want the person to return home. The fact that you asked for an extension and weren’t given one is an even stronger indication that IRCC wants your grandfather to return home. If you ask for another extension even though you were just denied the request IRCC won’t be thrilled but many do this to extend the amount of time the visitor can stay counting on the fact that they will get the extra time because of processing times not because they think they will be given extra time remain in Canada as a visitor. Your grandfather will need to complete a medical in order to enjoy the extra time in Canada. Not sure if your grandfather wants to return to Canada but I would strongly suggest they spend time in their home country reestablishing ties before even considering coming back to Canada for another visit.

Hi all. My mom is currently in Canada on supervisa. She has the supervisa stamp until 2027. However, the hand written date for her current entry on supervisa is getting expired in Feb, 2024

So, now when I apply for extending her stay, do I need to show any funds in her account? Or I can just provide LOE saying I signed undertaking for being financially responsible as long as she stays in Canada on Supervisa and provide proof of continuing to meet LICO for supervisa and show good enough funds in my own account?
