Hello all,

I have a visitor record valid till 2017/03, I am traveling to the Caribbean for a few days and just checked that it does not say VISA and doesn't authorize re-entry, will this be a problem for my re-entry to Canada? I have a valid work permit till 2017/06 as well. My flight leaves in a few hrs, so I need to know what to do.

Thank you

you will need multiple entry visa in passport which will allow you to re enter canada.

Visitor record is same for all. Nothing to do with that text written on that permit.

CBSA will issue another visitor record/permit again when you re-enter canada.

you have already work permit so they will not issue any permit when you reenter. Make sure you have multiple visa stamp in your passport.

I dont have a multiple visa stamp in my passport which is not expired.I applied for a visa to re-enter Canada and it gave me the form to extend my stay and I filled it out waited 2 months and received it.I dont see where I should apply for a new visa, it keeps bringing me to extend my stay application

Oh...thats not good
I also had same problem when I was applying visa in canada.

Looks like you have changed your WP status to Visitor record by mistake..

There is an option for applying visitor visa. you have to fill IMM5257E which is for visa.

While filling come to canada wiz you need to answer differently(I can't exactly remember what I did) which will give you option with this form.

So,
1) I have to cancel my flight correct?
2) does this mean I can no longer work? Is my work permit valid?
3) does it mean I cant even travel to the United states and back ?
4)how do I correct this?

At this point, I would suggest you to give call to CIC.

A stamp in a passport is not considered a Visitor Record document. By default, a Canadian entry stamp in a passport without any expiration date allows a visitor to stay in Canada for up to a maximum of six months. Once the visitor leaves Canada, this permission lapses and a new permission must be granted on the next entry to Canada.

A Visitor Record, on the other hand, is a printed document that is usually issued when an individual is granted permission to stay in Canada for longer than six months. This document remains valid till its expiration date, and the visitor may exit and enter Canada as many times as they like during the validity of this document. It must be noted, however, that Immigration Officers have the power to deny entry to any individual attempting to enter Canada if they decide that the individual does not meet the legal requirements to be admitted as a visitor, even if they are in possession of a valid Visitor Record.
