Mom is on a visitor visa, her entry is valid fo 6 months until May2019. Would like to extend her visitor record until September 2019 , however have some questions.
  • We would like to travel outside Canada for 1 week but we are only 2 months away until the 6 months of this entry. Is it wise to travel outside Canada and come back to say she would like to stay until September?
  • If we travel outside Canada and come back will she require Medical Exams? Given that she went out before the 6 months. but coming back for 4-5 more months. Should we make the medical exams ahead before traveling and coming back?
  • I understand that for stays longer than 6 months, a medical exam is required, however, reading further from CIC, medical exams are required only if the person meets the criteria below. Mom is not coming to work neither apply for parent and grandparent super visa. She lived in one of the countries below, but the country says NO for Inmmigratio Medical Required.

"If you plan to stay for more than 6 months
You need a medical exam if you meet any of these criteria:
If you need a medical exam, the visa office will tell you what to do next."

"If you are applying to become a temporary resident of Canada, you must have a medical exam if you:

  • want to come to Canada for more than six months, and
  • have lived or travelled for six months in certain countries or territories in the year before you come to Canada.
You need a medical exam if there is a “yes” in the second column. Countries are listed alphabetically. Certain overseas locations may also be listed under the country of sovereignty, such as the United Kingdom."

1. Your mom's current visitor status will lapse as soon as she leaves Canada, unless she is visiting the US.

2. She will be assessed for a new length of stay when she returns after the holiday abroad

3. She will be asked to do the medicals if she applies to extend her stay.

4. You are reading an irrelevant document. It does not apply to extensions for visitor status, but only to new applications for TRVs from scratch
