Hi Everyone,

Im currently in Canada as a Visitor from the UK, I am applying for an Inland Spousal Visa, I have a few questions I hope could be cleared up.

1) I have basically completed all the forms and was about to send the application off, but having heard a few stories about the amount of paperwork in peoples applications I'm worried that I'm not providing enough information.

I guess my question is, is it necessary that I overkill the application with every shred of evidence I can find? email, whats app, Text, Skype logs, etc etc..

2) Bit of a technicality question, as I'm here as a visitor staying with my wife at her home in Toronto, am I living here, as in do I put the Toronto address as my home address, or my address in the UK (parents address is the only one i could use now)?

3) What length of time am I looking at best case scenario before I could start working (I will be submitting an OWP application with the SV). 2? 4? 6? 8 months? I appreciate this is very much down to the application, but it would be nice to know what others have experienced.

4) Some of the messages we have exchanged have been quite sexually explicit in nature and thus very private, id prefer not to share these with immigration if possible, however I'm also concerned that to omit them may make our records appear edited and thus somehow fabricated or distorted. What should I do?

Any advice re these matters would be much appreciated!!

Many thanks!

Don't do it. Apply ouland. You'll end up hating life if you go inland.

If you do go inland - best case scenario will be four months for the OWP. You could almost be done the entire process in that time if you go outland.

Go outland. Avoid wrecking your life for the next 2.5 years.

No it's not necessary. Quality over quantity.

Use the Toronto address. As mentioned you should really be applying OUTLAND. You can do this and still use Toronto address, and just extend your visitor status before it expires.

Apply outland instead. You can work once you have become a PR, so would be in approx 8 months or so (give or take).

You are expected to edit down your chats, emails, messages etc. The VO doesn't want to read 1,000 pages, in fact some people have seen in their notes that the VO ends up just shredding most of it unread. Take samples of your chats from the beginning of relationship to present, maybe just a couple per month. Don't submit anything you don't want a stranger to read.

Pardon my ignorance... Can I apply outland and remain in Canada as visitor? We only chose the inland route as we can't stand being apart and thought that is the only way to go about doing it.

Is the benefit of outland application just the time it takes to process?

Would I need to submit the application in the uk? Thus potentially be interviewed in the Uk?

thanks for the advice.

Yes, you can be physically present in Canada and apply Outland. Some forms are different for Outland and Inland, so be careful which ones you use. (I stayed in Canada for 7 months as a visitor while applying Outland. When I got my COPR I went to the nearest US border to activate my PR status.)

Yes, for a UK national Outland could take 6 or 8 months (check out a thread on this forum where UK nationals share their stories) while Inland could take 2.5 years or so. If you apply Outland, you can wait it out here, as long as you don't let your visitor status expire. (You can apply to extend it online.) If you apply Inland, it is not recommended to leave Canada until you are approved for PR.

You submit the application to Missisauga, and after they evaluate your sponsor for eligibility, they send your part of the application to a visa office for processing. The visa office might be London. This would mean that if you are called for an interview, you would have to go to London. However, this is quite unlikely, unless there's a lot of issues in your application such as criminal history, misrepresentation, suspicion of immigration fraud, etc.
