Hi all,

I become permanent resident 6 months ago. I want to travel to USA. I am a citizen of country that needs visa to enter USA and it's just too complicated to apply for one from Canada and waiting time is very long.

Is there a way a Canadian Permanent resident can travel to USA as often he wants?
I was reading about NEXUS card, which allows Canadian Permanent residents to travel to USA whenever, and that card acts like a passport between these two countries.

Anybody has any info about mentioned above?

Thanks

Canadian Permanent Resident NEEDS US Visa to travel to USA.NEXUS card is different and it helps in clearing the Customs quickly as it has it own lanes at the Border, Airport Etc....

It took me 20 minutes to finish an online application, and waiting time was two weeks. So i am not sure about " too complicated".
Among the residents in Canada, only Canadian citizen can enter USA without visa.

Ohhh are you sure about that that VISA is needed?

I read that Nexus card serves as Passport between Canada and USA. That the reason for both checks from canadian and USa Immigration.

If you needed a visa to visit the US before you became a PR then you still need a visa now. This won't change until you become a Canadian citizen.

Agreed. Also, if you apply for NEXUS card, I expect that the application will be declined

That is certainly not true. If you are from a visa exempt country you can.

True , my bad. It is best to say, if you are required to get a visa before you bcome a permenant resident; then you are required to get one after you become a permenant resident.

I am assuming you are from greece.I think citizen of greece no longer need a visa to enter USA.

I didn't know you can get a US visa online... I thought an interview in person is required at a US Embassy/Consulate. I think the online application you mentioned can only be done if you are from certain countries..

You fill up an online application, and pay the fees, then you can book a date for your interview that can take a place anytime within two weeks. The decision will be made at the end of the interview.

The online application mentioned is for NEXUS, not a US visa.
