visiting Canada with an expired F1 US visa

im a kuwaiti citizen with an expired F1 US visa but with good status sevis. am planning on driving from Idaho state to Toronto Canada to see my family for 3 weeks
do i have to apply for Canadian visa? if not what documents should i bring at the border?

You need a TRV (visitor visa) and must apply at a Canadian office overseas. You can't apply at the border. The list of overseas offices are here, and their requirements are on their web sites. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp

I'm in the same situation as you. Could you share how you managed the situation? Were you able to get the canadian visa with expired f-1 visa?
