visiting canada for convocation.... plz suggest me

hi there,
i am from new zealand, i am temp resident here holding a work permit. my friend has invited me for his convocation as he has finished his study in canada. he has sent me a letter from his collage which says that his study has been completed and his convocation will take place on next month. so he has requested a convocation ticket for me to invite for convocation ceremony.
so i will visit canada just for two weeks during his convocation, i have got sufficent funds in my account, hotel booking in canada, support letter form my employer that i will go on holidays for 2 weeks and all other document whatever i suppose to get. my friend gave me one more letter with my and his details, purpose of visit and his visa copy aswell.

now the problem is he is not able to provide me a affidavit as he is not resident or citizen in canada, he is international student. so he could only provide me a letter from his collage for convocation invitation for me, a invitation letter from his side with his signature and copy of his passport, but could not provide affidavit as he cant get without because he is temp residant yet. so can apply only with these documents which i have got from my friend aor should not apply without affidavit or any notary stamped papers?????? please suggest

Are you a citizen of New Zealand? If you are you are likely from a visa exempt country, if you are then can fly in at anytime and not worry about it. Just say your a tourist checking out the sites . You can check on the CIC website. www.cic.gc.ca.

no i am not new zealand citizen. i know i dnt need to apply a trv if i hold a new zealand passport. but new zealand is my country of residence since almost 5 years, i have a job here and holding a work permit. my employer isssued me holiday and will write a letter to say that i am going on holidays and gonna continue my job from this date etc...
i have got these things from my friend who is inviting me.

a invitation letter form his collage showing his convocation date and he is willing to invite me for convocation.
bank statement of my friend.
his passport and visa copy.
a personal invitation from my friend to invite me.

but the only thing he could not arrange is the affidavit to support my application.
because he is not PR in canada so could not get that.

should i apply on the base of documents he provided me? i have got everything from my side whatever i need submit for visa. do i have chances to get visa without my friends affidavit????
