Hi

i searched the forum and there is a few threads on visiting canada while the outland application for sponsorship is ongoing, but my case differs a little. i know i need to prove to the IO that i will be returning to ireland, but i got let go from my job recently so i cant use that as a reason. Due to being let go, i moved back in with my parents as my rent was expensive and draining my savings, so i dont have a lease or utitlity bills to show them either.
I will get a return flight and i also have proof of my savings but will that be enough...i cant think of what else i can show them.
does anyone have any ideas...we haven't seen each other in months so i really really want to go :(

thanks

hello.
I don't think you need visa from Ireland. If you say about port of entry, I guess they can be satisfied by your return ticket and explanation too.
good luck

I'm from Scotland and when I came back into Canada (as a visitor for 6 months) they just asked why I was here and did I have a return ticket. I had nothing to tie me to the UK or to prove I would go back except the return ticket as I have not lived in the UK for a year now. They had no problems letting me in and stamping my passport. I did have copies of all my bank statements to prove I can support myself for 6 months but all theye did was ask my girlfriend what she does for a living and left it at that lol

When my partner come to visit last month from Ireland all he had was his return flight. He had no hassles at all getting in and no one questioned him about having ties back in Ireland or showing proof that he would leave.

@ Ssarah183 - Why did they have to know what your girlfriend did? I guess what I'm asking is, do you need a job? I will be arriving with my husband (who I"m sponsoring) in Canada in December. I don't have a job yet and he doesn't have his PR yet so he's going as a visitor. I will get a job once I arrive. Is this going to be a problem?

Job Offer........
I went over for 9 weeks this summer (from Ireland) and they asked me a few more questions then usual. Not trying to catch me out or anything but making sure I did intend to return. I had my return ticket, acceptance letter from college and a letter from my boss. It was more then enough. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you're going for a few weeks. If it's longer then a month I'd consider trying to bring something else along with your return ticket if you can. But don't worry about it if you can't. Just explain your situation.

I think they just asked her because she was right there, I'm still not sure why they did lol maybe to prove i would have enough income? Even though I had bank statements to prove that anyway. They just want to know that you can support yourself and don't plan to work while visiting Canada.
