Visiting Ban?

Ok, I have a question my child is a dual citizen and her father is in the Canadian navy. He has visitation rights but the issue comes to me getting her to Canada due to the fact I was banned after over staying a Visa due to preterm labor. It has been six years since the ban and I cant remember if it was permanent one or one with a limit. I do remember the boarder patrol saying if I immigrated the ban would be lifted. However I have no intentions of immigrating over to Canada any longer. Who do I call to find out whether I can be let back into the country? Currently there is a court order that allows my daughter to visit her father however the ban has made it very difficult for me to be able to transport her to him since he lives on the other side of the country and I am not about to let my six year old child fly alone at any point and time.

Basically long story short I went to go visit my fiance and have our wedding, he's now my ex husband. But I was pregnant during the time and had a preterm labor scare 3 months before she was due. I was put on strict bed rest and told if I tried to travel back even via car I could very well loose my child. So the stay went longer then planned. My child was still born a month early and was in the NICU and during all the crazyness I completely forgot my visa to visit was only for three months. I was about three weeks past my VISA when I came back to the USA and had the ban put on. It's been about six years since then.

So once again, who can I call to find out what needs to be done to have the ban lifted if at all possible?

Canada doesn't issue permanent bans for overstays. If you were issued a ban, my guess is that it was a one year exclusion order.

Were you given any paperwork?

I believe I had to hand in paper work a couple weeks after coming back to the USA but I can't remember what it was for. I was trying to immigrate at the time but was waiting on medical exams. So I had a lot of paper work that was going through. But I don't think I was given any paper work to keep. At the time I was in full out baby brain mode.

Do you have a greencard or are you an American citizen? Why did you need a visa in the first place?

If you did have an actual visa, how did they catch you leaving the country after your visa expiry?
