I believe so, that's what most people are suggesting, maybe because the Super Visa was already designed to be a longer term stay visa than a TRV since it has up to 2 years stay compared to 6 months for a TRV. Also the Super Visa requires insurance, medical exam, and the host requires minimum income threshold, which are all things that aren't necessarily required for most TRVs. Therefore, because of all these extra requirements, I think anyone who's able to demonstrate these things, rightfully have greater success of being approved for supervisa.

I believe it's before, because I think you have to submit your notice of assessment right? The income posted there is before tax.

oh ok thank you,,so,if you apply for a multiple visa and get a 10 year or 5 year visa why apply for a super visa when STILL the officer can stamp only 6 months when you arrive in canada?(apart form having to pay health insurance).if you apply and get a multiple visa you can still extend your stay so,,not too much difference right'?

Yes, not much of difference when you have a multi-Visa. And the success rate of getting TRV for parents isn't as high as Super Visa. For example, my mom applied for visitor visa twice (rejected both times). She finally got Super Visa. Besides, there is no guarantee that your visa extension will be approved. Most cases, parents who came to Canada on Super Visa got 2 year stay permit. Very few, who didn't, later contacted CIC/CBSA and extended their permit (don't know the proper way).

Super Visa is a better option for parent(s) who lack in TRV criteria (family ties, funds, travel history, employment etc.) and their son/daughter in Canada satisfactorily meets LICO limit. This visa largely depends on the inviter's financial situation (not the much on the applicants').

oh thank you rossei,,this is really good info,,,and it makes total sense to me if your mom got denied twice and then she got the super visa...same question for you though,,the requirement for the super visa(lico) is before taxes right?

Yes, it depends on your gross income (before taxes).

You have asked few more question in another thread. I will answer them here:

hi guys,,im very confused,,,and i have a couple questions..
1-Is super visa easier to get than visit visa for parents?
Generally yes (explained before).

2-when you apply online or on paper, how does cic knows your app is for super visa since the forms are the same?
When you apply online, you first fill out an eligibility questionnaire. During answering step-by-step, you will see a question like this "Do you want to stay in Canada for more than 6 months". If you say 'Yes', it will show you Super Visa option. Once you choose Super Visa, it will show what documents you will require to submit. FYI, when you apply online, you answer the questions from the applicants' (your parents) point of view.

When you apply on paper, the form IMM5257 has an option on Page-2 in DETAILS OF VISIT TO CANADA section.
1a) Purpose of my visit:
When you click to open drop-down list, it has "Super Visa: For Parents or Grandparents" option available.

3-what is the processing time for super visa?
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp
FYI, your parents need to do medical during/before Super Visa application.

thank you rosseiiiii...if I fill the questionaire from my parents point of view then i should choose ''parent-grandparent'' but if you do this it doesnt show the requirements for super visa only if you choose ''child-grandchild''?

so,parents from ALL countries need to do the medical exam? should they do it after? do they receive a notification or something? what is the approval rate these days?
and they can stay 2 years without leaving the country?

No, it should be the other way. Your parents should choose ''child-grandchild'' when they are filling the questionnaire (their point of view).

Here is what I've found from CIC:

Two ways you can have your medical exam

1) Wait for instructions from the visa office after you have submitted your application. In this case, you must go for the medical exam within 60 days of receiving the medical instructions from the visa office. Your application may be refused if you do not.

2) Undergo your medical exam before you submit your application. This is called an up front medical exam.

You can contact a panel physician directly to get your medical exam if you apply under one of the following categories:
-Workers
-Students
-Visitors (including Parent and Grandparent Super Visa)
Once your medical exam has been completed, the doctor will give you a document confirming that you underwent a medical exam. You must include a copy of that document with your application.

-If the doctor works with the eMedical electronic system: they will give you the information sheet printout.
-If the doctor works with a paper system: they will give you a copy of the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form.
You must attach that form to your application before you submit it the visa office. If you apply online, you must upload that form before you can submit your application.

what is the approval rate these days? and they can stay 2 years without leaving the country?
I'm not sure about approval rate. Yes, they can stay up to 2 years (whatever stay permit they get finally).
