My fiance is a permanent resident of Spain. He wants to visit me in Canada. He is currently studying full time and plans to come in the summer. We have already made plans to get married in feb in Pakistan. When he goes to the interview for the visit visa, they will definitely ask the purpose of his visit.

Is it good to mention that he is going to visit his fiance? Will mentioning that help him with the visa or make it worse? My family also plans to send him an inviation letter for the visa. Just to make the case clear, he is also a distant relative. So he was planning on just saying he is visiting his uncle and aunt. Which case would be stronger. Mentioning he is my fiance or saying he is going to visit his distant family?

Last year he tried visiting by mentioning he is our distant relative, but he didn't have a permanent residency card at that time, so they rejected the visa.

How should he apply. Please help. :)

i'm not sure how a PR card of spain would interefere with his application to visit canada. he will still be travelling on his pakistan passport, correct?

he needs to show strong ties to either pakistan or spain showing that he does not plan to overstay his visit in canada. so anything from the university showing that he is already enrolled and paid fees or whatever for the next school semester would be proof that he does indeed plan to return to canada. return tickets obviously help too, and a set timeline on when he plans to return. letter from his employer showing that he is employed and receiving (ie. 2 weeks) vacation to go visit canada and that he will have his job back once he returns also helps. lease documents showing that he has a place in spain that he will be returning too. you get the idea of what they are looking for, right?

him having a fiance and family in canada will hurt him if he has no strong ties to spain/pakistan cause it can be seen that he using this visa to enter the country and will not leave. so his ties to spain/pakistan need to be stronger than that of his fiance and family, and you need to prove that to them.

best of luck!

I wouldn't mention that he is coming to visit his fiancee. As the above poster mentioned, he needs really strong proof of his ties to Spain or Pakistan. The proof of his continuing studies after the summer visit will probably be the strongest part of the evidence. If he could enroll and pay for his classes that start in the fall before applying for the visit visa, that would help.

If he doesn't have better evidence than he did the last time he applied for a TRV and was refused, I would not bother applying again. Too many failed applications are a bad sign for his PR application. Could you go visit him in Spain instead?
