Hi Everyone,

I am a PR Holder. My wife and a 3-year-old daughter are Canadian Citizens. I wanted to call my Mother and younger brother (13 years old) who live in Pakistan on a visit visa for 2 weeks because I am missing them a lot. I wanted them to spend some of the days of my brother's school vacations in Canada. Here are some of our facts:

My mother is a widow. Our house income is the rental income from a house that my mother owns. Other than this house, my mother also owns another property and has a strong bank statement in the form of liquid asset (Cash). She doesn't do jobs or own a business (I hope it doesn't make her profile weak). I have 2 sisters, one is married and the other is in university and is financially dependent on my mother. Both my sisters are going to stay in Pakistan when she arrives to Canada with my brother.

Secondly, both my mother and brother have only travelled to Saudi Arabia in the past 10 years.

Is their profile strong enough that I can call them to Canada for a 2 week visit without their application getting rejected? Serious responses will be highly appreciated.

Pros:

1. She owns multiple properties
2. She has enough money
3. She has some family ties in Pakistan

Cons:

1. She is a widow - hence weak ties and the inference that she may want to live with her son.
2. She has a young son who will be coming with her - again, is she going to move here with her younger son and just stay with you for good?
3. She has no real travel history

You need to show that there are very good reasons for her to leave Canada after her visit. You should mention ties to the community she lives in (maybe she has lots of family besides your sisters? maybe she's part of some religious/charitable organization?), talk about her taking are of her daughter, etc.

Her profile isn't very weak, she can certainly get a visa. However, it's not an obvious yes either. Think of reasons why she will leave Canada and not just stay with her elder son.

Thank you for a detailed response.

Do you think the fact that my younger brother is in school will help improve the profile? The school will provide an approved leaving application which will be showing the total days that he will be allowed to take off from school. We can also provide the slip of paid advanced tuition fees for 2 months which will further exhibit their intention of coming back to Pakistan.

Besides my sisters, my mother has her parents, her siblings and other relatives in Pakistan.

As you mentioned about the religious organization, she did buy a property and built a religious school, where less privileged kids come to learn religion for free.

Any idea what solid reasons I can mention in my invitation letter which go on to show that she will go back to Pakistan after 2 weeks. I will mention about my sister that she is financially and emotionally dependent on my mother and she only has my mother who takes care of her needs. This does go to show that my mother and my brother will return back after 2 weeks but I believe it won't be enough. Any ideas?

Strong ideas will be highly appreciated.

Your brother's school documents will not help. I would leave them out of the application since a lot of people (who get denied) try this and it doesn't work. The reason is simple - if you were intending for them to stay in Canada, what difference would it make that his school gave him only a week's leave or whatever. And two month's fees is really not a big deal. If you do mention this, put it at the end.

You should talk about how your mother has very strong ties to her parents, her siblings, and other relations in Pakistan. How she is part of a large community and has a lot of support there.

This religious school - is she involved in the day-to-day running of it? That will constitute a good tie if she is. Even if she doesn't run the school, is she on the board or something like that?

Talk about your sister and how it is extremely important for your mother to return to take care of her since she is not currently married (this is culturally significant).

I'd say you have a decent chance of getting approved if you can put the property documents first, followed by the school, then her community/family ties, then your sister, and finally (if you wish to) your brother's school docs.

Thank you so much @21Goose for your detailed response. It really does help a lot.

I would really love to see a second opinion as well from another seasoned individual who has a sound knowledge of visitor visa to Canada just like you. This will only make me more confident.

Yes, wait a day or two (or three, it's a long weekend here, and lovely weather too) and other people should chime in.

Please can anyone suggest me whether CAD 18000 is enough to show in the bank by my mother. Additionally, does she have to show these funds constantly for 4 months (the bank statement 4 months timeline is given in CIC website) or she can deposit them in the 4th month? Please also let me know that do I (Host living in Canada as PR) have to share my bank statement as well?

Secondly, can I mention the time period for their visit as 2 months? Or would it be better to keep it for 3 weeks.
