Hello everyone,
So I came to canada in January on a multiple entry visit visa and i got allowed to stay for 6 months. My stay expires in july. I want to get it extended and i will apply for extension in a day or two. Kindly let me know whether I can stay in Canada if i have already applied for an extension and it hasn't come by july. I have also been told I can go to the border and re-enter. Let me know if that is valid for my case? I dont have a US visa though. I have been told that you can only exit and re-enter again without a visa. Is that true?

You did not move to Canada on a visitor's visa.

If you think you have moved to Canada on a visitor's visa, you are in a world of trouble.

What grounds would you use for an extension application?

Fixed it
Here you go
Doesn't matter if you fixed it. If you believe you moved to Canada on a visitors visa you have a legal problem. What reason for the extension application are you providing?

Your chances on the visa extension depend very much on why you are applying, and how you plan to afford it.

Just leaving the country for an hour to reset your visitor status risks being refused at the border as you will look like a non genuine visitor, or perhaps someone who moved to Canada on a visitor visa.

If you have no visitor visa and leave Canada via the US border, you will be refused at the US side and returned to Canada. CBSA will then be very suspicious and will ask you why you did that - and what is your reason for being kicked out of the US to reset a visitor status?

You strike me as someone who is planning to stay in Canada no matter the visa restrictions.

My wife has a multiple entry visa. I have applied for a change of conditions/ extension by paper so she can stay beyond 6 months. Does anyone know how long for an acknowledgement letter ? I have the document from courier showing the signature at delivery. Is this enough to prove we applied ? Or do we need a AOR from IRCC ? Will she have implied status ?

Hello, So I came to Canada on a 2 year multiple entry visit visa which validated my stay for 6 months. My husband is a work permit holder and I applied for my work permit and got it before my stay expired. I need to know, do I have to get my status changed on my passport as well? My work permit states that I can stay as long as my spouse's stay is valid and that is up till January 2021.

Did you apply for work permit or visitor record? Just wondering why is your WP validity linked with your husband's WP.
