Visit extension past processing time--URGENT!

Last year I came to Canada from America to "visit" my boyfriend (ended up deciding to stay for as long as I could) and once my first 6 months were up, I applied to extend my visit another 6 months. I applied 5 months ago, and for the last month I've been obsessively checking the processing time info page. Judging by that, my application should have been processed and I should have received word by now. I Applied by paper, and I'm worried that maybe I put down the wrong email address, so they can't contact me. I also moved from the address I was at when I sent it in. If they can't contact me, I'm worried that if it's been denied, I won't know and I'll end up staying past when my implied status ends.
Should I go back to the U.S. just in case, or wait for an answer? My boyfriend and I were planning on applying for common law in 1 month, so if I leave, our 12 months living together will be reset. Should I risk overstaying in order to be here to apply for that, or would that just cause problems down the road? If I do have to leave, when will I be allowed back in?? I've been here for 11 months already, 5 of those with implied status.
I also sent an email asking about my application a few days ago, but it says it'll take 30 days to get a response. Is there any way I could call in and check on it?
I'm sorry if this post is a bit rambling, but I'm in a bit of a panic! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Have you tried calling the CIC call centre to see if they can give you any information about the status of your application?

Did you call CIC. to change your address ?
I'm in the same situation,I submitted my application online in July 31 2015 and I checked every week the processing time because they update every week.
In 24 December 2015 on CIC. website shows that they are working on application received in July 3 but after on week it was a new update and the date was changed to "Working on application received on August 27" and I had no updates on my application.
I was confused because of that but because it was Christmas I couldn't do nothing.
In 4 January 2016 I called to CIC. to see whats happening with my application because I had no updates and no decision made.
The agent told me that they are "Working on application received on July 3" and was some errors with the system and they changed back from August to July on CIC. website.
After that I waited one more week to see what date will show again on CIC. website and again it was update to August 27 and no updates to my application.
That's crazy.
Because I didn't got any emails from CIC. about my status of my application I said to me to wait one more week to see again what date will be update on the CIC. website.
Last week was again update and they changed again the date.
Now they are working on "August 28" for online application and September 10 for paper application.

I will suggest to call CIC. and ask whats happening with your application.I did the same today and the agent told me that my application is still in process.
Every time when you change your address you have to inform CIC.

I'm just going to go back to the U.S., to be safe. I wasn't entirely confident my application would be accepted anyway, so I'm going on the assumption that it will be denied.

If you are one month away from common-law, you might as well just stay.

Did you update your address with CIC? Did you call CIC to ask what's going on?

Was it in Canada or outside Canada application? I was just wondering, I'm on the same boat, applied for my mother last in August 2015 ,till today no updates andbit was outside Canada application

My application is from inside Canada.
I'm in Canada from 2010 but I changed my status from worker to Visitor because I'm not aloud to work more than 4 years and to wait my decision on my application for permanent Resident.
I changed my status in March 2015 but in that time I had the answer from CIC. in 2 weeks.
My application for permanent resident was Canceled as Incomplete because I forgot to add my original criminal record from my country and I added just the translation.My mistake.
I did a new application and because I have brother and sister here and they are Resident and my sister she's Canadian Citizen and I have where to stay I did extension of my Visitor record for 6 months.
From 1 August 2015 to 31 January 2016.
In all this time I got just on updated and every month I got this email from CIC.

There have been no updates to your application (V........) since you last checked your MyCIC account. Thank you for your patience.

I have no idea what's happening because they are working on application received in August for online and September for paper.
I just stay here in Canada and I will wait the final decision.

Like you said right now they are working on online apllication of August 2015, for me I can't check it except login into cic my account , I would really appreciate if you can answer me this .thanks

Please copy and paste on your browser or you can write on Google: APPLY ONLINE,this is the official website from CIC.
When you open the link you will see on the left side that you have some option like:Check application status,Find forms and guides,Check processing times,Apply online,Pay your fees .......
Click on Check application status and you have to answer 2 questions.When you click on Select and you will see options to choose what type of application you did

Last updated was on January 20,2016 and they are working on application received on September 3, 2015 for ONLINE and Working on applications received on September 22, 2015 for Paper.

That's crazy.In 6 month I had just one updated and nothing else.My application is Open and no Final decision

You can't check the status of your application online anymore.The only way to check is MyCIC account.
You will receive emails from CIC.when is updates on your application or when your application will be approved,canceled or refused.
Sorry but that's the only way to check.
