Hi all,

I work in NY with H1B currently after graduating from a Canadian University. Applied for Skilled worker class. Two days ago, I finally received the letter to submit my passport to NY consulate by mail for Canada PR visa stamping. I have a valid TRV and have been visiting Canada all the time.

1) Will NY consulate cancel my TRV when they stamp the PR visa on it?

2) I am attending a wedding in Canada this July. Can I visit Canada using my TRV instead of going through the Landing process? My intention is to land in May 2013 after completing my H1B assignment.

Thank you.

Your TRV will be cancelled as PP cant carry two visas of different types at same time.

If they are asking your PP then this means that they are going to give you PR. Hence, you have to use that for your Canada visits.

Suggestion: Get Canada PR visa, work on H1B till May 2013 and then travel. Or get your PR card processed & come back in 4-6 weeks. But be careful your visa expiry will start from the day of MR.

ixanok, How did you handled that? Was the PR landing mandatory on the first visit after having a PR visa stamped?
You can actually have 2 valid canadian visas at a time, as I had a business WX-1 visa and then was issued a Work Visa W-1 while I was in the US under a L-1 Visa I do not know if this is the case with a PR.

My big question is after my PR Visa is issued, will my temporary resident visa (worker, w-1) be cancelled? Or can I retain it for its validity for the purpose of entering Canada while my PR card does not arrive?
