Sorry, its a bit confusion, what does mean " Visit Canada for visa stamping" ?

thanks for the quick response.

Ok, when i am saying stamped in canada, that means stamped from US consulate located in canada. The US H1B (Work visa) holders needs to get visa stamped from any country outside US. So most of the people go to Canada ( which is closest) to get it done. I myself have got my first visa stamped from Canada but that time i did not have any application pending. So my confusion is, can is still visit canada while my immigration application is pending?

Thanks again!

What country are you from? Does your country need visa to enter Canada? If yes, do you have a valid visa.
If your country does not need a visitor's visa or if you do have a valid visitor's visa, you can enter canada. The US embassy in Canada does not know that you have applied for PR in Canada so they will stamp is everything is valid. The Canadian embassy will give grant you a visa as per normal process usually.

Great! I am from India and work in USA since last 5 years now. I had my canadian visa valid till last december. I will get it stamped again. I wanted to confirm before i enter canada that my immigration application is not affected in case in enter canada during that time for whatever purpose. but yes, i have no intension of staying there more than 2 days. I will come back to usa as soon as my visa is stamped. Thanks anyways for your help.

Thanks!

I don't see why it will be a problem. I haven't heard of it being a problem but then again i only know of one person who is going to canada while the PR process is going on.

Just a word of caution.

Make sure you have all your H1B papers with you. Read other forums to get some insight in this.

Incase, if your file gets in the "Administration Processing" in US Consulate, you will be stuck in Canada for atleast a week or two. Please plan for this too (cuz u never know!!!)

Hi,

I did my H1B Stamping in Montreal last year(2009) and had my PR in process at that time, no issues whatsoever. Go ahead and apply for a visit visa but do mention in the application for visit visa that your PR is in process(I did that ). Also as sairaghav1234 mentioned there will be an issue(delay) if you do not fax your H1B approval notice(I797) to the US Consulate where you go for stamping. I will advice scan a copy of your I797 and mail it to the concerned US Consulate atleast 10 days before your stamping date and reconfirm if they received it, then you should be fine and will most probably receive your passport stamped with visa the next day(this is what happened in my case)

Rgds
