HI

can pl someone tell me, what is the validity of the visitors visa, its under student category, i hope the expiration date given in visa is the arrival time, as per the cic staement on their webpage:

"A multiple entry visa allows visitors to come and go from Canada for six months at a time, without having to reapply each time. It can be valid for up to 10 years, or one month before your passport expires, whichever is earlier. You must arrive in Canada on or before the expiry date on your visa."

And so the following is given as at cic website help:
"
A border services officer at the port of entry in Canada will determine how long you can stay in Canada. Most visitors are allowed a six-month stay from the day they entered Canada. If the officer authorizes a stay of less than six months, they will indicate in your passport the date by which you must leave Canada.

If you want to stay longer than your authorized stay, you should apply for an extension at least 30 days before the authorized end of your stay.
"

Has anyone tell with experience how much time do they grant at border usually. Do we get 6 month time or less??

Really appreciate help!
Thanks

There is no such thing as a "visitor visa".

- A TRV can be up to 10 years or one month before your passport expires.
- A visitor status obtained under a TRV S-1 is good for up to 6 months.

Usually people get 6 months when entering Canada, but what "most people get" is irrelevant. Each case is evaluated individually.

It is not the same, but in this case there is no difference.
