Dear All,

I have sent in my passports on 23 July 2010 which they have received on 26 July 2010 to Buffalo embassy. It is now 19 August 2010. In the meanwhile I have sent two emails enquiring status and got a responce as below:

Your passport/s is in line to have the Visa printed/added. If you need your passport, it can be returned to you without the Visa.
Canadian Consulate General Buffalo
Immigration Section

My questions are:

1. Does anyone have experience on exact number of days it took to get passports back from Buffalo.

2. If I am forced to ask my passports back ( i have family / business reasons after 1 Sept), do you think I will be given another chance to get these stamped?

Also my experience is that never send your passports if you can go and get it done yourself in Buffalo.

I suggest you wait another week and if visa not stamped you may take the PP back. But do it only if it is very essential. For some reasons passports can be on hold with visa offices upto 8 weeks.

Thanks for your response.

Does anyone know by experience actual timelines (i.e. how many days) it takes nowadays to get passport back and also whether anyone got passports back without the visa and then were given a second chance to submit.

I had also send my passport to New delhi office on 23 rd july 2010 and waiting for the reply..

Better to patiently wait having endured the process for this long. Don't recall your passport.

Dear All,

Thanks for your support. I have just realized something that may be an issue:

We submitted an original valid passport per family member. The passport we sent for my spouse is a new passport as the old passport did not have two blank visa pages as requested. However our application and medicals refer to her old passport.

The reason why we send a single passport as that they required a valid passport for each member (and the old one should no longer be valid).

Do you think this could be the issue (or am I just thinking too much needlessly) and if yes what would you advise me to do?

Thanks in advance.
