Dear XXXXXXX

Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).

I am refusing your application on the following grounds:

• Not satisfied that applicant is a bona fide intending student.

You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.

My profile:

10th-83%
12th-86.1%
B.Tech (Chemical Engineering)-67%
M.Tech-85%
IELTS-(L-6.5,R-6.5,W-5.5,S-6)

I got admission (unconditional) in SAIT for 2 yrs program (Bachelor of applied degree in petroleum engineering) for Jan 2020 intake.

I have applied for study permit under Non sds offline on sep 11th,2019. I got rejection today based on the above reason. Anyone please help me what does it mean?

Please seniors help me. I could not understand VO's reason of rejection. Does it mean VO thinks I am not a genuine student or what? I really don't understand.

Thanks in advance.

Did you attached SOP in it and forward it here as you're applying for Bachelor's again they need proof that you will return back to native country as soon as course finish. You need to prove that you've done masters but this particular would benefit you in another terms or so

Probable reasons for your rejection (not a bona fide student): 5.5 in one band in IELTS, Going for a Bachelor degree after a masters and that too a M.Tech (big no for VO)

Highly unlikely you will get approved for student visa when you already have a master's.

You should go for PR.

Kindly go through my SOP. Clearly mentioned everything why I choose this program and how it will help even though i have master degree.

My name is XXXXX. I am applying for the Study Permit and Co-op Work Permit of Canada. I have been accepted into two years applied degree program, Bachelor of Applied Technology-Petroleum Engineering (Start date: Jan 06,2020; End date: Dec 17, 2021) at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I have explained in detail as below about my academic qualifications, my passion towards the program, why this program is best fit for me, financial support and other related information for your reference.

Academic qualifications description

I have not only excelled in my academics but also have diversified my interest in various fields like science and technology. I have always been a topper of the class and obtained an impressive aggregate of 83% and 86.1% in my Secondary and Higher Secondary standards respectively. I have always enjoyed studying Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. My passion for Science and Mathematics was evident ever since my school days which encouraged me to opt for Chemical Engineering because of its challenges involved in the application of scientific theory to practical, real-world problems such as how to deal with fossil fuels, etc. Moreover, its versatile nature and the pivotal role it plays in modernizing the world.

I have completed my Bachelor’s Degree at XXXXX affiliated to the XXXXX India. The undergraduate study has taught me how engineering is as much as an art as it is science. Analytical and problem-solving skills helped me to understand the basic concepts & fundamentals in Chemical field. The undergraduate program at XXXX was very distinctive and was designed to ensure overall development of its students to grow as professionals.

I have studied a Master’s program at Department of Chemical Engineering, XXXXX (one of the best India’s renowned technological universities) with specialization in Computer Aided in Chemical Engineering. The course work at XXXX helped me to understand the safety precautions in my project as well as advancements in Chemical Engineering applications. I have distinguished myself with a distinction and overall aggregate of 8.3 on 10 scale (8.3/10).

I started paying more attention to the Oil and Gas exploration and its processing techniques courses more than any other subject because of the unique challenges involved in production process and processing of oil and gas on fixed and submerged platforms due to space constraints and stringent safety issues. However, the course work for these subjects was limited during my master’s and bachelor’s level and I did not get an opportunity to further strengthen my zeal and passion towards Petroleum engineering. Yet, my thirst toward petroleum engineering increased day by day. In addition,I have had an opportunity to attend an offshore industry exploitation workshop held at Visakhapatnam. I firmly believe that the demand for safe, affordable, clean energy is increasing constantly. I have fascinated by the technology, stringent design, and petroleum engineering skills required. Especially, I have attracted towards the Oil recovery and it’s pressure and friction techniques of the offshore fixed or submerged platforms and I have got enormous interest for further studies in Petroleum Engineering. During undergraduate and graduate studies, I learned core engineering subjects such as Thermo fluids, Thermodynamics, Process Control, and Advanced Chemical Reaction Engineering. However, I would like to enhance my knowledge of Drilling, Advanced Well Design, Exploration, and Production Process to become a successful petroleum engineer. Therefore, my interest towards Petroleum engineering was doubled and I motivated myself to apply for Bachelor of Applied Technology Petroleum Engineering program which is 2 years course in Southern Alberta Institute of Technology to strengthen my knowledge and skills. All these reasons solidify my dream and fashion to become a successfully qualified petroleum engineer.

Why Bachelor of Applied Technology Petroleum Engineering:
These days Petroleum Engineering is a demanding field in India as Multi-National Companies started investing heavily in exploration and building production facilities such as Reliance Industries Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and British Petroleum (BP), etc. Nevertheless, I started to look seriously to pursue my passion in petroleum engineering in India and inquired about colleges and universities offering petroleum engineering. As a result, ( to much of my surprise) most of the colleges/universities do not have right kind of course work and more importantly much-needed practicum work. I always wanted to have quality education coupled with practicum as it enhances the application-oriented thought process. Subsequently, I consulted my professors, peers and other industry experts to seek their suggestion in order to full fill my dream in petroleum engineering. Eventually, they suggested me to look for quality course work coupled with practicum globally.
During my search, I got stuck in between when looked at the petroleum engineering course work at SAIT and it attracted me well as it perfectly suits my ambitions. Then I revisited my peers and industry experts about this program and Canada. I have got overwhelming positive response from them. Subsequently, I decided to fulfill my long-awaited passion for Petroleum engineering at SAIT. Furthermore, the program is very unique and offered in Oil capital of Canada, Alberta. The two-year program preparing graduates for career opportunities in the petroleum industry such as oil ad gas exploration, drilling, reservoir, and production engineering.
I would like to inform you that I am really interested to study in Canada and want to take my career ahead. As cooperative work term is an integral component of the program as it provides me with real-world experience and Canadian English speaking business environment. Moreover, studying in a culturally diverse environment would enhance my academic, professional and personality in future.
Why the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology:
I am firmly confident that Southern Alberta Institute of Technology is the perfect place, which would help make my dream a reality. The reputation it has earned for its high faculty standards and advanced research facilities in the field of petroleum engineering made me believe that it is my first choice, without any hesitation, in order to pursue my goal. Moreover I heard from one of my seniors that all instructors had field experience,it helps students to understand practical aspects.
SAIT has welcomed international students from more than 140 different countries. They provide a top-quality education, delivered on a beautiful campus complete with all the amenities and support systems which need to be successful. SAIT offers a unique style of learning that provides students with the skills required by industry, so they can go straight from SAIT into the workforce. SAIT education is applied, which means hands-on learning, a curriculum based on relevance to industry, and work experience through co-ops, practicums, and internships. Employers in Canada and around the world recognize a SAIT education as a benchmark for quality.

Financial Support
I am living with my husband at XXXXXX My husband XXXXX is working as XXXXX at XXXX. He is very renowned professionally at his office and leading the team at front end. Both of our family members (Parents and In-laws) are residing in state of Andhra Pradesh, India and they were well settled with own houses and other properties as well. My husband and my in-laws will be providing financial assistance during my stay in Canada. The estimated tuition fee for two years is XXXX and living expenses. I have more than sufficient funds to support my education and living expenses in Canada.
