Hi guys,

So I am going to reapply and one of the reasons for my refusal was employment history buttttt I’ve been a student my entire life up until this year when I graduated right. So in my justification I am planning to tell them that and as evidence I was thinking of attaching my highschool grades and my bachelors degree and my IELTs.

Is that a good idea for a strong comeback in my second application?

no I mentioned that I have bachelors degree but I am a fresh graduate, I graduated in May this year and had my graduation ceremony last month.

so that’s why I am thinking of mentioning all that and saying I’ve been a continuous student but should I attached my highschool grades and my bachelor degree as evidence??

why are you studying again right after bachelors? i assume you are going to do a masters right? but why?

and what course? age? country?, etc.
It's an advanced diploma in biotechnology with a focus on industrial microbiology. My degree is a BSc in biotechnology with a focus on medical biotechnology. I am 22, originally from Pakistan. This is what I wrote in my sop:

I wish to study in Canada for the advanced biotechnology program because of how developed the biotechnology sector already is in Canada, which will allow me to have access to the best and latest resources. The educational experience will help me acquire the appropriate skills I need to secure a good position in Dubai’s industrial sector. Also, Centennial college is a very diverse and multicultural place making it an ideal place to study for me as an international student.

My overall educational goal is to deepen my knowledge related to industrial microbiology and I hope to accomplish that through this program for which I’ve been selected. My main reason for pursuing an advanced diploma in Canada is due to the progress the country’s biotechnology sector has made in its field. Where I live, in the UAE, we don’t have access to the same level of educational resources to prepare students for industrial work in biotechnology and related fields. That is why after completing my Bachelor’s from the UAE, I have decided that I want to gain more understanding and hands-on experience related to my field which I believe Canada and Centennial college will provide for me.

Furthermore, this program will enhance my employment opportunities because getting a North American educational experience is highly valued in the UAE. After completing my diploma, I plan on coming back to Dubai and applying to some of the major leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies here and a big part of getting hired will be the important foreign educational experience.

Being a permanent resident of the UAE, having my parents and childhood friends living here and being brought up here myself. It is very important for me to come back to my home which will always be Dubai, and start working here to give back to the community which has given me so much and made me the person I am today.

I have already earned a BSc in Medical biotechnology earlier this year and to sum up, the next step for me is gaining educational experience related to the industrial sector which is why I wish to go to Canada for an advanced diploma with a focus on industrial microbiology and chemistry. This program will enable me to fulfill my dream of getting a North American educational experience and then coming back to Dubai, where I can say, I will confidently be able to use the experience from my time in Canada to become an able, working member of Dubai’s growing industry sector.

Any advice would be helpful since I am currently working on my justification letter with my reapplication. Should I attach my highschool grades and bachelors degree??

your reasoning is extremely horrible.

you do not need to come all the way to canada and spend a lot of money just to "specialise" in something slightly different and gain "experience". it does not make any economic sense, and theres no guarantee that the diploma will give you the exp you wanted, and even if it did, the experience might be totally different from what you may need in UAE or pakistan...

nevertheless, the vo did not seem to have pointed this out, but theres no need for them to actually find multiple reasons since one is enough for a rejection. as for why they rejected you based on your employment history - i think its because you actually could not even find a job in UAE/pakistan with that degree of yours and thus a diploma would not do much to change this situation
Hi, thanks for replying. I am literally having a freak out because idk what to do. I assumed my profile was strong.

Because the thing is that I didn’t give myself time to look for a job. I am only 22, I literally had my graduation ceremony last month. All I did these past few months is take the ielts exam and then look up colleges. The only experience I have is when I did my internship at a hospital here which which was unpaid lol What would you do in my situation to convince the VO?

Also I came up with this, I think it sounds logical??

My overall educational goal is to deepen my knowledge related to industrial microbiology and I hope to accomplish that through this program as it has a focus on industrial microbiology and chemistry especially since the two-year option is designed for university graduates like myself. My university program, although it was in biotechnology the focus was on medical biotechnology, not industrial and the learning was more theory based. This is why I chose Centennial because after having done research and having looked at the program outline, there is a lot more practical and project-based experience related to the industrial branch of my major which is what I want, as opposed to the medical aspect. I didn’t have the option to study that here.

Ultimately, I intend on coming back to the UAE, having already mentioned the strong ties to this country. Not only that, but I know the job opportunities that are available for me will only increase because a north American education is highly valued here ensuring that this diploma program will rightfully add value to my resume. I would like to mention that during my internship, I was a lab technician intern in a private hospital in Dubai and the added educational experience will only enhance my chances of getting a good job in some of the top private hospitals (??) Furthermore, it will widen my skill set and I will not only be able to apply to hospitals but also the major pharmaceutical industries in this region as they require proper clinical experience and the advanced diploma will exactly provide that for me.

is this better?? Should I name some companies here?? Ugh this is so frustrating :(

It's quite frustrating bro, I live in Dubai too, I graduated 2017(biochemistry), i applied for study permit on 20th of November, I am still praying I get a positive response. For the employment isshh, I told the visa officer about my internship job and my voluntary research service in Hiv/Aids. I think Study permit is more like gambling... 50-50

you can name companies. but its very weird when you make it sound like companies in the UAE specifically require a more "hands on" degree instead of the "theoretical" degree you already have...

and the vo as i said, will probably think you are just trying to stay on in getting after your studies and also to acquire a pgwp due to a lack of suitable jobs in such areas in uae
Hi, thanks so much for your feedback again. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. Did you already get your visa? or is it still in process??

Also I took note of your points and edited these two paragraphs again to make it sound more convincing, are there still loopholes or sentences that can be used against my application by the vo according to you?

Ultimately, I intend on coming back to the UAE, having already mentioned the strong ties to this country. Also, a lab technician job requires training related to microbiology and culture techniques according to what I have seen during my internship here and the advanced diploma that I have chosen provides training in these fields. Moreover, the job opportunities that are available to me will only increase because of the training I will receive in Canada since people who have a North American education are at an advantage here. This will ensure that the combined educational experience will rightfully add value to my resume. That is my main goal, to become an all-rounder student in biotechnology and widening my skill set to (don't know how to end my letter lol)

no im already in canada and im not from pakistan or dubai 0_o

and i still dont see why you have to come to canada to study and spend so much money just for a slightly different course

cant you get the experience in your country by doing internship or even unpaid ones??? alterntaively, why not a masters in that field you want to enter instead? since it takes one year generally as well for a masters or at most 2 years

Nice, where are you from then?? Also was getting the visa challenging for you as well??

And to answer your question: why do ppl get masters anyway? To further in their career for better job opportunities right? And if getting a masters in biotech OR a diploma in biotech is going to result in the same outcome (deepening my knowledge of biotech) then why not especially since a diploma program is easier to get into, and this particular program is designed for university graduates so you NEED to have BSc to get into it.
Also I have mentioned that I want to become an all-rounder biotech student and have both the experience related to the medical and industrial aspect of biotechnology - I think this sounds logical enough doesn’t it? Plus Canada has better equipment and resources to train students. That’s why ppl want to go study there right.
Also strong family ties and living in the same country for 21 years, parents having property and assets here should be a valid enough reason to assure the vo that I have no intention of staying there beyond my student visa.

what do you think?
