Visa period issue.

Dear people, I'm in a grave problem please help me out.

Have got admission from a university and got visa for fall-17. Now, because of some unavoidable circumstances I can't go to Canada in 2017 but will go in 2018 hopefully.
I have already informed my uni and supervisor about the condition and they told me there's no deferral system available now and I will have to re-apply for fall-18 if I want. As far as I understand, they will give me a New offer letter for fall-18.
My current permit is upto December 2019. Will I have to apply again for study permit from with new offer letter from same Uni for fall-18 or the old study permit will do the job ?

If you did not go to Canada then you do not have study permit as this is issued at the airport when you arrive.
What you have is a TRV and a letter from the embassy stating that you need to enter Canada before December 2019.
Is this the case ?

Yes I don't have study permit as it will be issued later. I have a seal on passport that says visa will expire at december 2019. I'm not going at fall-17 and hope to go at fall-18. My institution will provide me a new offer later for fall-2018.

Then you do not need to apply for Visa again , all you need is to show a letter of acceptance for fall-18 and proof of funds when you arrive at the airport next year.
