Visa Passport Request

Hey guys,

I am in the process of applying for a study permit, and I am at the stage where I have done my medical, and right now I am just waiting for the response from CIC.

I applied online and my visa office is in the Philippines.

I have a question regarding the passport request.
Since I am currently residing in South Korea, is it possible if I bring my original passport to the visa office in the Philippines by myself (or ask a representative to do so) instead of mailing my original passport through courier?
I thought about this since I think sending my passport all the way from Korea to Philippines will take a long time and I cannot afford to delay since I will have to depart to Canada around early August..

Any other advice from all of you who have been through all these?

So this means that most of you here sent your original passport through courier to the visa office when you were asked to send your passport, is that right?

If you have applied online you will get a passport request by email through within one month but depends on your country CIC. Before that you cannot send passport. If you have applied from Philippines I think it will take longer seeing others from Philippines taking this longer.

So my question is that, when my passport request email comes, can I personally come to my visa office in the Philippines to hand in my passport instead of sending it through courier since I live in South Korea? (And do you think that this is the better option?)

And one more question, if I decided to personally hand in my passport (which means that I have to fly all the way to Philippines), do I have to wait until I receive another email that says I can collect my passport, or could I just wait in the visa office for a day for it to be processed?

And usually how long does it take for them to process the TRV once they get the original passport?

Also, do you have any advice regarding passport request (especially in my case) since I saw your timeline that you've received your visa?

yes you can personally come. But if you have VAC or VFS in SK then send through them.

It would take up-to seven days to process your TRV usually within 4-5 days. You will get email containing letter of introduction and after one or two days you can go collect your passport.If you send through VAC or VFS you will get another email. If you courier then you will not get any email.

And usually how long does it take for them to process the TRV once they get the original passport?

I can't give any advice because in this forum two people docrz and and potpot are waiting a lot. On the other hand only one has got his visa in 65 days from Philippines applying online.

One more question,

If I choose to use a representative to hand in my passport to the visa office in the Philippines, (In this case it's my dad, since he's a pilot and he travels to the Philippines often) do I need to fill in the PDF that is entitled "Use of a Representative" since I did not do it in the first place when I submitted my online application?

You have to write a letter to your father where you will give the authority to him and also your father needs to give a photocopy of his ID card like national ID or Driving license and also yours.

Will they approve a hand-written letter? Or does it need to be sent through email?

A letter with your sign. you do not need to send it by email. Your dad needs to show it while collecting passport.
