Monish here! I wish I had known about this forum before Applying for Study permit! Here are my details:
Applied on : 2nd July,2014
Location : VFS Mumbai
Univ: University of British Columbia, Vancouver
Course: Masters in Clean Energy Engineering
Education: B.E. Electrical (Mumbai Univ 2010 passout)
Work Experience: 3years

HAD APPLIED WITHOUT UPFRONT MEDICAL!!! Because I was told that its provisional and they will ask you to go for medicals if required. I was going to do medicals but the website said Do not Apply for Visa until 1 week post medicals. Since I was getting late for application, I went ahead without medicals!
On the 13th working day (which appeared to be a Sunday) I got my medical request!! Since Lilavati Hospital is always packed and you dont get appointment until 1 week, I got an appointment at CDC(CLINIC DIAGNOSTIC CENTRE) South Mumbai for 23rd July,2014 ( 3days ahead of asking for an appointment). Since these are e-medical enabled clinics, report goes back to Delhi in 3-4 working days!
I did not get any acknowledgement apart from fee receipt of INR 4100/- because they said yours is post-application medicals & we would directly mail you the same medical form (but stamped) brought by you (With IME no. & Barcode) after 4 working days- WHICH I NEVER GOT!!
Yesterday, that is on 31st July,2014 my status on VFS website changed & said passport has been dispatched from Delhi. at 12pm I got POE -Letter of Introduction Mail saying application has been approved! But wanted to wait until I get my passport!!! So waited till 1pm today i.e. 1st Aug,2014 and then called VFS Mumbai. They gave me the 'WAY BILL Number' which is the tracking number of Blue Dart & it came to know it was in Transit! I received the Passport at 4pm Today & a Family member received it on my behalf!
I will share more information about this. Was Glad to come in touch with few members of this forum and I thank everyone who cleared my queries and kept the hope alive in the most anxious & tensed moments. Because after reading about some cases on this forum even I had begun to think a bit on a negative note. YES! THE WAIT WAS KILLING. AFTER 10TH WORKING DAY MY PATIENCE WAS AT ITS PEAK. I Got two I-20s from U.S. and 5 more offers from other countries & had rejected all the offers after going ahead with this one. Had this fear of losing everything at one point of time. had attached a letter of the NGO I have been genuinely working with as well. Finally, I would say, IT COMES. AND YOU ARE NEVER LOST Even though you feel so! Thank you very much!!
