VISA ISSUED BUT FOR 1 YEAR ONLY

Hi,
Many thanks to almighty Allah for the acceptance of visa.
I got visa for 1 year only.
My program at SFU is for 4 years.
When is the best time to extend this and will it cause any issues in future?

Congratulations for the visa. what is the expiry date of your passport? Because I've heard that the visa is normally issued till the date of your passport expiry.

Thanks, I dont know. This is som kind of a new rule.
My passport expiry is 30 november 2020. Got my visa till 30-septemer-2017

While I was applying visa at VFS Karachi, a girl was crying because she only had visa for a year and her program of study was of 4.

The person there responded very logically. As per him, it could be:

- Visa Officer was suspicious of your plan of study and would like to see if you progress towards your course in a year when you try to extend it.
- Sometimes they do that when we only show 1 year tuition + 10000K. So that we show them more monetary funds after completing a year of study.

He said it clearly that extending visa is comparatively easy as compare to applying for a study permit. I believe he said you need to apply 90 days before the expiry of your visa (I am not sure of the days, check cic website)

Yes, I will apply 100 days before my visa expires.

Are you going for winter semester? And can you please tell me about your education? You did ALevels or inter?

Yes in going for winter session.
I did my A levels, got 2 B's and a C.
Ielts 6.5

Oh I did Alevels too. But I aplied to FIC and got accepted there. I wish I had aplied to SFU too.
Btw I am also going to go in dDecember for winter semester IA.
