Hi Guys,

Does anyone has experience about visa for parents when we are in work/study permit here in Canada. I am planning to bring my father, single (widowed) and retired, here in Canada in TRV. Currently, my father is living with my brother back in home country. I am here in Canada with a permit and stable income (30k+/year). Wondering what are the things that I have to care most to apply for his visa and how long he can stay here with that visa? or anyother issues

Your comments and experience will be highly appreciated.

He should prove he has sufficient money to fund his stay and demonstrate that he has strong ties to his home country / no plans to remain in Canada long term.

Assuming he's approved, he will very likely get a six month visa. If he wants to stay longer, he can apply for an extension once he's in Canada (no guarantee he will be approved).

Many thanks for you quick reply. Yes, he has enough money to show?? If I am not bothering, may I ask what can be presented to demonstrate the ties to home country.

Thanks in an advance for your reply!

Property ownership, business ownership, bank assets, immediate family (your brother). Effectively anything that proves he has strong reason to return home at the end of his trip.

Thanks a lot....

Any other members in this forum who have already tried this and have useful things, experience, to share with me and other applicants who are looking forward to bring their parents/family members here in Canada.

Long term employment and letter from employer indicating when he is expected to resume work.
